Although <strong>the</strong> Taṇhā category is well-established and occurs in all <strong>the</strong> parallels<br />

(though <strong>the</strong> Gāndhārī edition is fragmented at this point), again what it contains is<br />

not.<br />

There are four verses in <strong>the</strong> Pāḷi that are not paralleled in <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r editions, and <strong>the</strong>y<br />

are not found elsewhere in <strong>the</strong> Pāḷi Canon ei<strong>the</strong>r.<br />

The sequences 2 - 4 and 23 - 26 also occur in Patna and Udānavarga, 21 with <strong>the</strong><br />

exception <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> last verse.<br />

Udānavarga has 3 o<strong>the</strong>r parallels with <strong>the</strong> substitution <strong>of</strong> mānadoṣā, lobhadoṣā, and<br />

tṛṣṇādoṣā in <strong>the</strong> 2nd line.
