Fish : A joy<br />

for everyone<br />

of a room, can be the<br />

aquarium.<br />

The first existence of aquarium was in<br />

China around the thirteenth century in<br />

the form of a porcelain tub with gold<br />

fishes. However, keeping ornamental<br />

fishes in glass aquarium started<br />

around late 1820s. In 1853, at Reagent<br />

Park in England, the first display of<br />

aquarium in public places was<br />

launched. By 1928 there were as many<br />

as forty-five aquarium housing<br />

different species of ornamental fishes<br />

were noticed at public places<br />

throughout the world. At present there<br />

are more than 500 large scale<br />

aquariums that are displayed at public<br />

places. This utilises only 1% fish world<br />

wide whereas the remaining 99% are<br />

being utilised by upcoming hobbyists<br />

in different parts of the world.<br />
