After doing lot of small/medium
hiking, our family has lots of
favorites. Here are our best five:
1. Taubenloch:
A mysterious and magical stroll
Good to know
• This is the only gorge in
Europe in the immediate
vicinity of a built-up area.
• The trail is not suitable for
strollers
Taubenloch, (French: Gorges du
Taubenloch) is a gorge located in
the Canton of Bern, above Biel/
Bienne in Switzerland. It crosses the
first Jura Mountain chain, as
How to get there
It can be easily reached by bus
starting at the Biel Railway Station:
Ride in the direction of the
“Stadien” up to the Taubenloch bus
considered from the Swiss Plateau.
This is the starting point. You will
see a narrow path just beside.
At the lowest point of the gorge
you will find the Schüss River. Parts
of the Taubenloch Gorge have
been protected as a nature
conservation area since 1927.
stop. The entrance to the adventure
trail is at the restaurant “Zum wilden
Mann”. At Frinvillier a train takes
visitors back to Biel. Or vice versa.
