historical province - Kakheti, which is the
motherland of Georgian Wine. Georgia is
considered to be one of the birthplaces of
viticulture and the origin of grapevine.
Wine making in Georgia goes back nearly as
far in time as humans have been living in
this fertile region.”
In Georgia, wine and vines are idealized;
they are represented in architecture,
folklore, poetry and culinary culture. The
fertile land of Georgia, the burning sun, the
mild climate and dedicated, purposeful
work has preserved 450 native grape
varieties. The most famous of them are
Saperavi, Mukuzani, Kindzmarauli and
Tsinandali. They are native to the fertile
region of Kakheti.
On the way you will visit:
Bodbe Monastary (first half of IV cent.) The
relics of St. Nino, who brought Christianity
to Georgia in 337, are shrined here
There is an amazing view of the Alazani
Valley and snow-capped magnificent peaks
of the Caucasian Mountains from the
monastery.
Signagi “a town of love”, was built by King
Erekle's order in XVIII century on a
mountain. The construction of houses and
other buildings represent the style of
South-Italian classicism with Georgian
elements.
Tsinandali - The famous center of
viniculture of Kakheti, where patrimony of
the Chavchavadze dukes is located.
Wine house Gurjaani - the guests of the
wine house have an opportunity to
participate in the grape harvest, pressing
and the process of winemaking. They can
also taste several kinds of wine produced by
family methods as well as by factory
methods. Locally cooked dishes will not
leave anyone indifferent!
