II. PREVENTIVE MEASURES OF RAGGING<br />
(A) Orientation cum adm<strong>in</strong>istrative measures<br />
1. Address by the Director/Pr<strong>in</strong>cipal/Head of the Colleges<br />
Directors/Pr<strong>in</strong>cipals/Heads of colleges of the University, dur<strong>in</strong>g their<br />
address/discussion to/with parents/guardians, admission aspirants/fresh<br />
entrant students at the time of counsel<strong>in</strong>g meets, new batch <strong>in</strong>duction on<br />
registration, batch <strong>in</strong>augurals and other such occasions, should <strong>in</strong>variably<br />
assure the students and parents about full protection and support aga<strong>in</strong>st<br />
any attempt of ragg<strong>in</strong>g by seniors while briefly expla<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g the ‘<strong>Anti</strong> <strong>Ragg<strong>in</strong>g</strong><br />
<strong>Policy</strong>’ of the University. The efforts dur<strong>in</strong>g such meets should be directed<br />
towards <strong>ac</strong>hiev<strong>in</strong>g socio‐<strong>ac</strong>ademic <strong>in</strong>tegration of new entrants.<br />
2. Fresher’s Welcome/Party<br />
E<strong>ac</strong>h college may organize, <strong>in</strong> a befitt<strong>in</strong>g manner, <strong>in</strong>augurals of new<br />
batches, towards progressive socialization efforts. Head of the Institute<br />
and f<strong>ac</strong>ulty members, dur<strong>in</strong>g such <strong>in</strong>augurals may provide to the students,<br />
the guidel<strong>in</strong>es on behavioral norms.<br />
Seniors may be encouraged to organize, ‘Welcome/Fresher’s Party’ for<br />
new entrants. For this purpose an organiz<strong>in</strong>g committee be constituted,<br />
out of senior students of which, a senior f<strong>ac</strong>ulty member will be the f<strong>ac</strong>ulty<br />
coord<strong>in</strong>ator of the party. Such a party, by the senior students, be<br />
organized with<strong>in</strong> first fortnight of the beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g of the <strong>ac</strong>ademic session <strong>in</strong><br />
the University Campus. Director/Pr<strong>in</strong>cipal/Head of the college and f<strong>ac</strong>ulty<br />
members, to the extent possible, should participate <strong>in</strong> such a party.<br />
3. Social, Cultural and Sports Activities<br />
To ensure a better socio‐cultural mix, social <strong>in</strong>tegration is very important<br />
between all batches. Hence e<strong>ac</strong>h college of the University shall set up<br />
social, cultural, and sports committees, under the charge of a f<strong>ac</strong>ulty<br />
member. Membership of these committees will be on a mixed group<br />
pattern, with a cross‐ section of senior and junior students. While on one<br />
hand this would help develop the extra‐ curricular <strong>ac</strong>tivities <strong>in</strong> the<br />
University, on the other hand it would help improve the <strong>in</strong>ter<strong>ac</strong>tion<br />
between students of different batches.<br />
4. <strong>Anti</strong> <strong>Ragg<strong>in</strong>g</strong> Committees/Squads<br />
E<strong>ac</strong>h college of the University shall have an <strong>Anti</strong>‐ ragg<strong>in</strong>g committee/squad<br />
function<strong>in</strong>g under the guidance of a Senior F<strong>ac</strong>ulty and <strong>in</strong> direct<br />
supervision of the Director/Pr<strong>in</strong>cipal/Head of the Institute’. The<br />
Committee/squad shall comprise of:<br />
a) Head of Department or Senior F<strong>ac</strong>ulty
