From the President
A Year in Review
As I approach
my third year as
Army and Navy
Academy
President, I look
back at campus
accomplishments
and memories
made during my
time in office,
and look forward
to the new ones
on the horizon.
As the Academy
community
continues to
embrace our
mission to
educate, mentor
and develop good character and leadership in young men,
I recognize the contributions every team member has made
in an effort to ensure that we have the safe and nurturing
environment necessary to accomplish our mission.
With the continued generosity of the extended ANA
family, numerous events throughout the academic year
have raised invaluable support that will enable us to
continue providing unique learning opportunities that lend
to the Warrior Experience. Army and Navy Academy is
the only school on the West Coast that offers the unique
combination of a boarding environment, leadership
training, and single-gender learning pedagogies. This
approach to education is what makes attending the
Academy an extraordinary opportunity for extraordinary
young men.
Cadets participated in a Memorial Day ceremony in
the Chapel that honored the fallen men and women
who fought for our country.
As a military boarding college preparatory school,
everything we do is designed to help Cadets excel inside
and outside of the classroom. Our emphasis on excellence
in academics, focus on leadership, and strength in athletics
has resulted in a 10% spike in 4-year college acceptance
over the last two years. The Class of 2016 had a
remarkable 98% 2-year and 4-year college placement rate,
including acceptance to renowned institutions such as
Cornell, UCLA, UC Berkeley, and Penn State.
Cadets volunteered at Magnolia Elementary School;
some of the activities included reading to the
students and tutoring them in subjects such as math
and science.
The Academy hosted the Gurian Institute and held
seminars and workshops, which were attended by
staff and faculty members.
At this year's commencement, the Academy added a
milestone to its rich history as we livestreamed the
ceremony, which was viewed by over 10,000 people
worldwide. The broadcast offered a view of the Warrior
Experience to alumni, parents, and prospective families.
