EXPLORING COLOR AND TEXTURE
This course is for anyone interested in the
combination of acrylic paints and gel mediums.
Structured assignments include color mixing and
composition. Demonstrations help guide you toward
an understanding of how materials interact. Starting
with dry materials such as graphite, pen and charcoal
on prepared surfaces including paper, canvas and
board; then make the transition to acrylic paint and
mediums. Explore the formal language and artistic
expression of both abstract and representational work.
Use imagination as well as historical references. No
experience necessary, only a curious mind. No class

ALCHEMY OF MIXED MEDIA
This workshop is dedicated to the alchemy of materials.
You begin with idea-generating techniques on paper,
then move to surfaces using handmade gesso on wood
panels. Pencils, pastel, watercolor, gouche, acrylics and
binders collage into something larger. Exercises and
demonstrations provide new approaches to technique
and process. Group discussions and critiques are
held to discuss the practical and the philosophical.
