Abstract. The subject of our research will be a graphical representation of the<br />
number of Slovenian students at individual Austrian universities for the period<br />
from the second half of the 19 th century until the First World War. This will be<br />
followed (mainly through biographical method) by the analysis of the complex<br />
and ambivalent relationships between (especially natural) scientists of Slovenian<br />
descent, whose main professional goal was to successfully function in the academic<br />
field, and the Slovenian nationalists, whose long-term goal was to form the<br />
Slovenian national identity and the Slovenian nation.<br />
Dichotomie studentů a univerzitních vyučujících slovinského původu mezi<br />
akademickou kariérou a naděje slovinských nacionalistů od březnové<br />
revoluce po rozpad habsburské monarchie. Předmětem výzkumu bylo grafické<br />
znázornění počtu slovinských studentů na jednotlivých rakouských univerzitách<br />
v období druhé poloviny 19. století do 1. světové války. Následovala (především<br />
biografickými metodami) analýza složitých a ambivalentních vztahů mezi <strong>věd</strong>ci<br />
(zejména přírodo<strong>věd</strong>ci) slovinského původu, jejichž hlavním profesním cílem<br />
bylo úspěšně působit na akademickém poli, a slovinskými nacionalisty, jejichž<br />
dlouhodobým cílem bylo formovat slovinskou národní identitu a slovinský národ.<br />
