MARTIN SPENGLER
& DIE FOISCHN WIENER (AT)
Marie-Theres Stickler: Akkordeon,
Stimme Martin Spengler: Gitarre,
Stimme Manuela Diem: Stimme
Manuel Brunner: Bass, Stimme
Also dem Blues.
With their partners in Martin Spengler & Die Foischn Wiener accordionist Marie-
Theres Stickler explores a slightly different set of musical roots. Marrying Viennese
and literary traditions with the blues – as a music and a state of mind – we are
treated to a vision of what might have happened if the ways of Franz Schubert and
Tom Waits ever had crossed.
Stimme Julia Lacherstorfer: Geige,
Stimme Marlene Lacherstorfer: Bass Evelyn Mair: Geige, Stimme
With deep roots in Austrian Folk music these five musicians started working
together in 2011, using their common roots to play directly into the hearts and souls
of their audience. Their new cycle of songs finds Alma using a different musical
language – between classical music and jazz, folk traditionals and their own compositions
– for the different phases of the moon.
WIENER TSCHUSCHENKAPELLE
(Hr/Mk/Bg/rS)
Slavko Ninić: Stimme, Gitarre Mitke Šarlandžiev: Akkordeon
Hidan Mamudov: Klarinette, Saxophon, Stimme Maria Petrova: Drums, Perkussion
Jovan Torbica: Bass Aleksander Stoijc: Gitarre
In 2009 Wiener Tschuschenkapelle
celebrated their 20th birthday, and apart
from having played hundreds of concerts
all over the world (their audience
ranging from hundreds of thousands
at the Lichtermeer in Vienna to seven
people) they have released 12 CDs so
far, „Haus am Wasser“ being the last,
essential for any self respecting friend
of worldmusic with a strong balkan
feeling – like their other 11 CDs …
www.tschuschenkapelle.at
Not the least of their many
achievements is – by using
it as a part of their name –
turning the derogatory term
„Tschusch“ in a signpost
for the enormous cultural,
human and economic enrichment
that Austria and Vienna
enjoyed and enjoys through
the many ethnic minority
immigrants living here. „I do
not wish to limit myself to the
music which is played in my
village. There are so many
villages all over the world.“
(Slavko Ninic in Zimbabwe-Mozambique).
