Location<br />
The University of the West of England (UWE) is a modern,<br />
growing university in the thriving city of Bristol, in the<br />
South-West of England.<br />
Description<br />
UWE is one of Britains most popular universities, with<br />
more than 30,000 students and 3,000 staff and is the<br />
largest provider of higher education in the south west of<br />
England. Students come to Bristol UWE from all parts of<br />
the UK, as well as a significant and growing number of<br />
international students from over 50 countries worldwide.<br />
The University has four campuses in and around Bristol<br />
encompassing 5 faculties and covering a wide range of<br />
disciplines.<br />
Entry Requirements<br />
Prospective candidates to the UWE-Muenster referral<br />
scheme, who have obtained a mark of at least 8 in their<br />
Schwerpunktbereichs-pruefung, should apply via Prof.<br />
Thomas Lundmark (University of Muenster) All other students<br />
must have an Upper Second class honours degree<br />
or equivalent and have passed either the IELTS (6.5)or<br />
TOEFL score of 600 (paper-based); 250 (computer-based)<br />
or, 100 (internet-based). The latter requirement may be<br />
waived where, for example, students have completed<br />
the common law programme (FFA) taught at some<br />
German Universities such as the Westfälische Wilhelms-<br />
Universität.<br />
Semester Commencement Dates<br />
Course length: Full time = eleven months (late September<br />
– end of August) Part time = two or three years.<br />
Semester One: Late September - December (with assessments<br />
in January) Semester Two: Late January - Early to<br />
The Master of Laws<br />
Bristol Law School offers a wide range of LLMs in:<br />
Commercial Law; Environmental Law and Sustainable<br />
Developmen; European Union Law in a Global Economy;<br />
Industrial and Commercial Law; International Law;<br />
International Banking and Finance; International and<br />
Comparative Criminal justice; International Economic<br />
Law; International and Comparative Human Rights;<br />
International Trade Law. Those programmes are offered<br />
full and part-time.<br />
Mid-May (with assessments at end of May/ early June)<br />
Semester Three: June - end of August (dissertation - no<br />
attendance required)<br />
Fees<br />
The fee for the LLM is set annually and you should consult<br />
the www.uwe.ac.uk/law/postgraduate or http://law.uwe.<br />
ac.uk/llm For 2009-20010 the fees are: Home/EU students<br />
£4000 (4000 euros) Overseas Students £9000 (9000 euros)<br />
Accomodation<br />
We have reserved accommodation for postgraduate<br />
students, offered on a first-come first-served basis and<br />
we cannot guarantee to house all students. However,<br />
every assistance will be given to students to find suitable<br />
private accommodation.<br />
