Als Intendant des Konzerthauses Berlin ist es mir jedes
Jahr aufs Neue eine große Freude das Festival
Young Euro Classic im Konzerthaus beheimatet zu
wissen. Das Festival belebt auf einzigartige Art und
Weise während der Sommermonate das Haus und
macht den Gendarmenmarkt zum musikalischen
Mittelpunkt Berlins. Uns verbindet der Wunsch,
Menschen an die klassische Musik heranzuführen,
sie für sie zu begeistern. Young Euro Classic erreicht
dies sowohl durch die Nachwuchsförderung
auf Ebene der Musiker als auch in der Ansprache
eines neuen Publikums. Beides funktioniert, da die
jungen Musiker authentisch und voller Leidenschaft
auf die Bühne treten. Die gelebte Freude am Musizieren
der Jugendorchester ermöglicht es, dem Publikum
neue und ungewöhnliche Klänge anzubieten,
es für die klassische Musik zu gewinnen. Kaum eine
Persönlichkeit verkörpert dieses Ideal stärker als
Iván Fischer, der Komponist der diesjährigen Festivalhymne
und zugleich designierter Chefdirigent
des Konzerthausorchesters. Ich beglückwünsche
Young Euro Classic zu seiner großartigen Arbeit.
As the General Director of Berlin’s Konzerthaus, it
is with the greatest pleasure that, each and every
year, I am reminded of the fact that the Young Euro
Classic Festival has made the Konzerthaus its musical
home. In its own unique way, the festival brings
our concert hall to life during the summer months
and transforms the Gendarmenmarkt square into
the musical heart of Berlin. We are both committed
to doing all we can to inspire people – young
and old – to enjoy and appreciate all that classical
music has to offer. Young Euro Classic achieves this
goal both by promoting the emerging generation
of young musicians and by appealing to a new
classical music audience. Both are possible because
of the remarkable authenticity and passion with
which the young musicians take to the stage. The
very visible pleasure that the members of the youth
orchestras take in their music making enables them
to present new and challenging sounds to their
audiences, and to capture their hearts for classical
music. Hardly anybody personifies the ideals that
the festival stands for more thoroughly than Iván Fischer,
who is both the composer of this year’s festival
anthem and the designated Principal Conductor
of the Konzerthaus Orchestra. I congratulate Young
Euro Classic most heartily on its excellent work.
