Eine spannende Brücke zwischen Orient und Okzident
An exciting bridge between the Orient and the Occident
Den Grundstein für eine besonders bereichernde
und nachhaltige Zusammenarbeit zwischen deutschen
und türkischen Musikern legte Young Euro
Classic bereits 2002, als erstmals ein türkisches
Orchester beim Festival zu Gast war. In den folgenden
Jahren wurde die Zusammenarbeit immer
intensiver – auch oder besonders – dank des Engagements
und der Kooperationsbereitschaft des
Dirigenten und Ausnahme-Pädagogen Cem Mansur,
der mehrfach mit türkischen Orchestern zu Young
Euro Classic eingeladen wurde.
Im Juni 2009 schließlich wurde die jahrelange
Zusammenarbeit erstmals mit einem türkisch-deutschen
Projekt gekrönt. Das Young Euro Classic Orchester
Deutschland – Türkei eröffnete die „Berlin
Days“ in Istanbul in Anwesenheit des Regierenden
Bürgermeisters von Berlin Klaus Wowereit und des
Istanbuler Oberbürgermeisters Kadir Topbas.
Seitdem baut Young Euro Classic regelmäßig musi-
kalische Verbindungen zwischen Orient und Okzi-
dent. So schlugen türkische und deutsche Musiker
2010 eine Brücke zwischen den Kulturhauptstädten
„Ruhr 2010“ und „Istanbul 2010“. Die Studenten
spielten gemeinsam unter Cem Mansur – wie bereits
2009 – und entlockten der Presse mit dem Konzert
in der Philharmonie Essen „Respekt vor diesem
jungen Projektorchester“. 2011 sind wir bei der Zusammenarbeit
noch einen Schritt weiter gegangen:

– Deutschland bestand erstmals aus Deutschen,
Türken und aus Musikern mit türkischem Migrationshintergrund.
Dabei geht es um ein gegenseitiges
Kennenlernen – menschlich wie musikalisch
– als ein wesentlicher Schritt zum Verständnis des
Anderen. Nicht nur die Musiker, auch das Publikum
des Festivalorchesters Türkei – Deutschland hat
diese Herausforderung angenommen. „Kompositionen
der klassischen türkischen Musik sowie zwei
Uraufführungen der jungen türkischen Komponisten
Ataç Sezer and Oğuzhan Balcı werden am Dienstag
vom Publikum mindestens ebenso begeistert aufgenommen
wie Rossini und Beethoven“, schreibt der
Tagesspiegel über diesen Einblick in Fremdes.

The foundation for an outstandingly enriching and
lasting cooperation between German and Turkish
musicians was laid back in 2002 when the first
Turkish orchestra took part in the Young Euro
Classic Festival. In the years that followed, that
cooperation became increasingly intensive thanks
particularly to the very special commitment and
contribution of the conductor and outstanding
Young Euro Classic Seite Page 51
teacher Cem Mansur, who has accompanied a
number of the Turkish orchestras that have been
invited to participate at Young Euro Classic.
In June 2009 this long period of cooperation
reached a new highpoint with the creation of a
Turkish-German music project. The Young Euro
Classic Orchestra Germany – Turkey performed the
opening concert of the “Berlin Days” in Istanbul in
the presence of the Mayor of Berlin Klaus Wowereit
and the Mayor of Istanbul Kadir Topbaş.
Since then Young Euro Classic has established
regular musical links between the Orient and the
Occident. In 2010, for instance, Turkish and German
musicians built a bridge between two of the cities
that had been selected as that year’s European
Capitals of Culture: Essen and Istanbul. As in 2009,
the students joined forces under the baton of Cem
Mansur to give a concert in Essen’s Philharmonia
auditorium that won press plaudits including “respect
for this young project orchestra.”
In 2011 we took this cooperation one step further:
for the first time, the Young Euro Classic Festival
Orchestra Turkey – Germany included not just
Germans and Turks but also young musicians from
within the Turkish community in Germany. It was an
opportunity for the musicians to get to know each
other more closely – both personally and musically
– and a major step towards mutual understanding.
It was not however just the members of the Festival
Orchestra Turkey – Germany who took up this challenge
but also their audience. Berlin’s Tagesspiegel
newspaper had this to say about the exploration
of ‘otherness’: “On Tuesday evening, compositions
from the classical Turkish repertoire as well as two
premieres of works by the young Turkish composers
Ataç Sezer and Oğuzhan Balcı were greeted with
just as much enthusiasm as Rossini and Beethoven.
