Regards from Klaus Wowereit, Governing Mayor
Berlin is considered to be the centre of contemporary dance.
Now the city and its lively dance scene will gain a new hot
spot: new additional studios in Wedding are opening at
the autumn festival Perfect Wedding. Tanzfabrik Berlin is
not only expanding the own radius of activities further than
Kreuzberg, furthermore adding on the development of the urban district
Wedding to form an inspiring surrounding, which will activate exchange
as well as cooperation between partners and projects on–site. Berlin will
become even more attractive as a Mecca of dance to dancers and choreographers
from all around the world.
Best wishes and lots of success to Tanzfabrik at the new domain
entstanden.
After three decades of contemporary dance development in Berlin–Kreuzberg
18. - 20.9._Sa - Mo_17.00 _17.45_18.30_19.15 _21.00_21.45 h
One-to-One-Performance: 4 Darsteller 4 Zuschauer_40 Min_in Englisch
In Pièce touchée No 2 unternimmt
festival
Pièce touchée No 2 could be described as a suite (in music a term for a
grouping of related pieces considered as a whole) centered on the touch
sense. Starting from purely haptic choreography, the performance goes on
to gradually propose relationships (or synesthesias) between touch and
sound, touch and music, as well as putting it into relationship with language
and narrative. The piece is performed directly on the body of the visitor.
Originating in Kenji Ouellet’s background in performance, experimental
media and music, this piece is challenging and playing with various levels
of perception.
“This work is changing the connotation of touch,
it is subversively questioning, giving pleasure,
waking up the senses and perception, crossing
boundaries, being intimate and abstract at the
same time.“ A. Kaya, Crossbreeds festival
The Ister
So kontrovers
The film The Ister takes up some of the most challenging paths in Heidegger‘s
thought, as we journey from the mouth of the Danube river in Romania to
its source in the Black Forest. However controversial Heidegger continues
to be, his thought remains alive in the work of some of the most remarkable
thinkers and artists working today. Four of these conduct our voyage
upstream along the Danube: Philippe Lacoue-Labarthe, Jean-Luc Nancy,
Bernard Stiegler, and the filmmaker Hans-Jürgen Syberberg. The prize
awarded film invites the viewer to unravel the extraordinary past and future
of “the West“ throughout a “gripping philosophical journey“ (Cahiers
du Cinema).
In diesem
Welche Spannungen
setzt Wandel frei? Was lässt er kollabieren? Führt er zu Beteiligung oder
Vereinsamung? Welche Emotionen werden freigesetzt? Was findet um den
Wandel herum statt? Wandelt sich etwas, damit etwas fortbestehen kann?
Was bleibt unverwandelt übrig beim Wandeln?
Notes on the future of danse ist eine Kollaboration zwischen Angela Schubot
20.9. & 21.9._Mo & Di_20 h_Premiere_60 Min
Part one: a solo from Rosalind Crisp for Angela Schubot dealing with transformation,
creeping processes and precipitous conversions
Part two: echos, squeeks and responses from Rosalind Crisp
Rosalind‘s style says ‘goodbye’ continuously to the passing, lets fall the
tracks it makes, acts with no assumption about cause and effect. In this
project Angela is thrust into ‘live‘ transformation.
How much do we expect ourselves to change, and others to change? Which
tensions set change free? What do they let collapse? Does it lead to participation
or disassociation? Which emotions are released? What takes place
around the change? Does something change so that something can continue?
What remains unchanged by the change?
Notes on the future of danse is a collaboration between Angela Schubot (Two
Fish) Berlin and Rosalind Crisp (Omeo Dance) Paris, based on elements of
Rosalind‘s danse practice. The danse practice deals with a dynamic set
of principles which guide the negotiation of movement by the dancer and
focus her attention on the continual process of creating movement from
any part of her body, at any speed or level, with any effort or duration ...
at any time.
The Half, gemeinsames Rechercheprojekt des argentinischen Choreografen
The Half, a shared research project by Argentine choreographer Diego Gil
and Serbian dramaturge Igor Dobricic, is developing alternative artistic
practices, where through a radical differentiation between individual conveniences
and skills paradoxically new forms of relatedness and expression
occur. Gil and Dobricic explore these modified perspectives within a performance
practice: they activate and produce performative situations where
terms and definitions like incompleteness, imperfectness, mergence and
indeterminateness are unfolded and may get evaluated in a new way.
Jochem Naafs Processing Dance –
Relations in the creative process
25.9._Sa_13 h_Public Lecture_25. & 26.9._Sa/So_Workshop_in Englisch
What does affect you when you are making a performance? Is it the performer
or the technician you’re working with, or are you also influenced
by the technology itself, by the chair in the studio, by the sounds from
outside? Every process has its dramaturgy, its time based story with interacting
actors. During this workshop we will become aware of the human
and non-human “actors“ that are working with or against us in a creative
process. We will work on a small becoming-performance. By being aware
of the relations between makers, objects and questions in various phases
of the process we will be able to process, and then stimulate the practice
of others. The workshop will start with a public lecture that is used as a
theoretical framework for processing dance in process.
Jochem Naafs is a researcher, dramaturge, writer and live artist based in
Utrecht and Berlin. He studied Theatre and New Media Studies (MA) at the
Utrecht University. In his work he constantly merges theory and practice.
Currently he is working as a researcher for the research group Theatre-making
processes (HKU) and as a lecturer for the Professional School of the Arts
Utrecht. He worked as a dramaturge with Powerboat, Michael Pinchbeck,
Jack Gallagher and participants of Choreoroam, wrote articles for various
organisations and magazines. As a live artist he created the lecture performance
Jij, and the performance Pauze.
TableTalks - ein Researchprojekt
26.9._ So
Table Talks
Invited artists of the festival will create a table with dramaturge and artist
Igor Dobricic. Table is one of the simplest men made artefacts. Beyond its
inherent domesticity, table is in the same time objectified micro version of
a city square and a stage, where separation and multiplicity of encounters
are performed. As such, table is an accurate metaphor for two interrelated
social and political phenomena - a public space and a theatre. Table Talks
is based on an intentionally naive belief that complexity of a shared creative
process can be condensed in a singular group act: making of a concrete,
simple, material object - a table. Dobricic is developing Table Talks since
two years, giving the different tables to the locations and institutions as
a present.
piece, which seeks to invent ways to present and expose the process of
dance-creating-sound and sound-being-visual through a combined dance
Was
wenn der Raum sich plötzlich umdreht und ... ?
Humorvollen.
Komischer Eingang is a duet existing of daily movements and conditions
of performativity, where strange and absurd facets of space are essential.
What if the space gets shaken completely? What if the space is beginning
Ayara Hernández Holz and Felix Marchand are playing, testing and twisting
Di & Mi_20 h_Performance_40 Min_Doppelprogramm
Suites is a solo trilogy, dealing with the French suites of Bach together with
scores from 26 artists and Goldberg‘s own habits. In this evening Part#1 and
Part#2 will be shown which comprises 16 scores. The different scores come
from artists working in the field of dance as well as with other art forms that
influenced and inspired Goldberg. The point of departure with the score making
is to conduct the way of dealing with dance on new trips in thoughts
as well as in movement, a game with confrontations, habits and choices
as parameters. Inspired by the structured method of Bach, the work aims
towards a playful happiness around what movement can be.
Story Board
1. & 2.10._Fr & Sa_18 h_Lecture & Filminstallation_in Englisch_90 Min
Performance dienten. Storyboard spielt mit dem filmischen Arbeitsprozess
und Bedeutungsebenen von Originalität. Film und Performance wurden im
Modernen Museum in Stockholm und der Kunsthalle Göteborg gezeigt.
Storyboard is a film by dramaturge and choreographer Malin Elgán, who
edited the film material from the groundwork of her latest dance performance.
Storyboard follows the choreographic concept from Formen sa: gör
and consists of clips from a wide range of feature films and documentaries,
which served as models for the dancers and their movements in the performance.
Storyboard is a movie that bypasses the idea of the recording
moment as film process’s actually starting point, which in turn makes the
idea of originality insignificant. Film and performance were presented at
Moderna Museet in Stockholm and at Göteborgs Konsthall.
Zöe Knights
Drama Queen
1. & 2.10._Fr & Sa_20 h_Performance_50 Min_in Englisch
A queen, by definition, is the sovereign in a monarchic system. Screen
queens and beauty queens, on the other hand, hold sway over entirely different
areas of life. Armed with all these different definitions, Zoë Knights
goes on a search for even more queens that have adapted far better to the
times in her performance Drama Queen. A Drama Queen is a person who
creates drama from the most insignificant events; someone who exaggerates
the importance of small details. Drama Queen is a solo performance that
seeks to deepen the connection between body light and sound. In its captivating
final scene it aims at a quasi-filmic experience within the theatrical
context.
BLINK Talk Presentation_Context_
Curatorship
3.10._So_17 h_in Englisch
Blink is the new network and organization working with exchange and
mediation in the field of contemporary dance, between Sweden and Berlin.
During Perfect Wedding Blink presents works by two Swedish artists,
Malin Elgàn and Jennie Lindström. Blink wants to open up for interaction
and is arranging a discussion around the topics “context of presentation“
and “curatorship“ by focusing on the following questions: How is dance
being curated today? What interests exists from the dance-scene, audience
and venues? Which are the possible benefits and how open are the artists
themselves to be curated to a given context?
I find I keep I find
3.10._So_19 h _Premiere_90 Min
I find I keep I find reproduziert Material von Performances aus Lindströms
I find I keep I find reproduces material from pieces listed in Lindströms
resume from 2000 until today. From different approaches and perspectives
she displays some of the physical and psychological memories that she
acquired throughout her career as dancer. With the notion of a self-portrait
as starting-point she explores the dancer‘s role towards her/his own
professional history, and towards the history of dance in general: In what
respect does a dancer‘s history constitute an authorship in it‘s own right?
The piece is presented as a collection of discrete intervals, but rather than
suggesting an ordered continuity in time Lindström wishes for them to be
in a continuous now.
