Wie ist die überaus rasche Mo<strong>der</strong>nisierung<br />
Ch<strong>in</strong>as <strong>und</strong> se<strong>in</strong> Aufstieg zu e<strong>in</strong>er exportorientierten<br />
Weltmacht zu erklären? Welche Wirkungen<br />
haben die Krisen des 21. Jahrh<strong>und</strong>erts <strong>in</strong> Ch<strong>in</strong>a?<br />
Diese <strong>und</strong> an<strong>der</strong>e Fragen sollen auf dem Symposium<br />
erörtert werden. Das Symposium will zum<br />
gegenseitigen Verständnis beitragen, aber auch<br />
Fragen aufwerfen, die unterschiedlich bewertet<br />
werden <strong>und</strong> auch auf <strong>der</strong> Buchmesse selbst <strong>in</strong><br />
an<strong>der</strong>en Foren <strong>und</strong> an<strong>der</strong>er Akzentsetzung zur<br />
Diskussion stehen werden.<br />
International Symposium: Ch<strong>in</strong>a and the World -<br />
perceptions and realities<br />
What is the perception of Ch<strong>in</strong>a outside the country?<br />
Also, how does Ch<strong>in</strong>a see itself <strong>in</strong> relation to<br />
other regions and other powers? What are the reasons<br />
for Ch<strong>in</strong>a’s rapid mo<strong>der</strong>nisation and its rise<br />
to an export-oriented world power? What changes<br />
and problems Ch<strong>in</strong>a is experienc<strong>in</strong>g because of the<br />
21st century’s crises?<br />
These are some of the questions that will be<br />
addressed at the Symposium. The event is<br />
designed to promote mutual <strong>und</strong>erstand<strong>in</strong>g and<br />
to address issues which will be <strong>und</strong>er discussion<br />
at the <strong>Frankfurt</strong> Book Fair <strong>in</strong> other forums and<br />
with other focuses. Furthermore, it is sett<strong>in</strong>g the<br />
tone for the Guest of Honour programme at the<br />
<strong>Frankfurt</strong> Book Fair and events related to Guest of<br />
Honour issues.<br />
