MIKROMONTAGE –
Schwarzhausen in Thüringen.
Langjährige Erfahrung in unterschiedlichen
MICRO-ASSEMBLY – PRECISION IN THE TIGHTEST OF SPACES
Complex and sophisticated production processes in micro system
technology demand innovative solutions. Häcker Automation GmbH
in Schwarzhausen, Thüringen, has been specialising in this field for
over 17 years and the core competence of the company lies in the
fields of micro and nano dispensers, 3D micro assembly and micro
laser soldering. Their many years of experience in micro technology,
machine engineering as well as electronic and software development
connects Häcker in many ways to our numerous in house
developments.
3D Multi Manipulation Unit (MMU)
The 3D Multi Manipulation Unit enables very complex sequences
of movements such as the transfer of components and their three
dimensional machining. The machine consists of 4 manipulation units,
each one making a real-time 3D alignment possible with 3 linear and
2 rotary axes. Since the actuators of the 4x2 rotary axes have an
extremely tight installation space, they must be built extremely
compactly and work precisely with zero backlash. As a result, Häcker
used the FHA-8C-30-D200-E compact servo actuators here.
3D Placer (Placer P-X3)
The 3D Placer P-X3 was designed in order to enable a high precision spatial
alignment of components within a process. Precise 3D movements can
be carried out via rotary, tilt and linear axes. The movement system has
6 degrees of freedom in total. The P-X3 is ideally suited to three
dimensional components since it has a Z axis stroke of up to 150 mm.
The properties of the compact FHA-8C Servo Actuator are used for the
drive of these 3 tilt axes. The P-X3 can be fitted with standard tools as well
as with process specific versions.
3D Substrate Mounting (S-A3D)
Special mountings are necessary for machining components and
substrates in several space coordinates. The use of S-A3D enables
measurements, proportioning, micro assemblies and laser soldering.
Additional tools such as sources of light and heat can be connected to
the universal interfaces of mechanics and electronics. The assembly of a
pneumatic gripper is also possible (to the tool interface).
Thanks to its compact structure, the module can be optimally integrated
in inline processes. The components or substrates can be taken directly
from the transport system and made available to the machining process
as a three dimensional retraction station. The FHA-8C Servo Actuator is
also used here, as well as in rotary axes.
Drehzahlregelung notwendigen Signale. Die absolute Positioniergenauigkeit
eines FHA-14C beispielsweise liegt bei 90 Winkelsekunden
bei einer Encoderauflösung von 800.000 Pulsen pro abtriebsseitiger
Umdrehung. Die Wiederholgenauigkeit liegt im Bereich von ±6 Winkelsekunden.
The FHA-C Mini Servo Actuators – it does not get more compact than this
The micro assembly is the home of the FHA-C Mini Servo Actuators and
when used in this demanding industrial application, they work extremely
precisely and reliably in the most restricted spaces.
FHA-C Mini Servo Actuators consist of a high precision shaft gear, a tilt
resistant output bearing, a hollow shaft synchronous motor and an
optical TTL encoder for speed and position control. The rotor position is
recorded via hall sensors and the hollow shaft can be used for supply
lines, shafts or laser beams.
Compact gears with a high degree of efficiency
Strain wave gears are ideal for use in precise rotary axes. The special
function principle with the elastically formed Flexspline forms the basis
of the FHA-C Mini Servo Actuator. Zero backlash, high torque capacity,
accuracy and torsional rigidity in conjunction with a high degree of
efficiency and long service life are the features of these compact
actuators.
Output bearings as flange bearings for direct machine assembly
Tilt resistant and pre-stressed zero backlash four point or cross
roller bearings are used depending on the size. The output bearings are
designed as flange bearings for direct mounting of the load.
Compact motor with best synchronism
The hollow shaft synchronous motor with concentrated motor winding
was especially optimised for strain wave gears. This results when used in
the FHA-C Mini Servo Actuators in a symmetrical, sinusoidal three-phase
system lowest running noises and best synchronism.
TTL encoder with hall sensors as high-precision measuring system
The encoder assembled directly on the motor shaft provides the
necessary signals for position and speed control. The actuator has an
encoder resolution of 800,000 pulses at the output, which provides an
absolute positioning accuracy for the FHA-14C of less than 1.5 minutes of
arc and with a repeatability in the range of ±6 seconds of arc.
EINBLICK – DAS SOLUTIONKIT® DER HARMONIC DRIVE AG
INSIGHT – THE SOLUTIONKIT® FROM HARMONIC DRIVE AG
SCHNELL ERSTELLTE ANTRIEBS-
LÖSUNGEN MIT DEM SOLUTIONKIT ®
Schnellere Taktzeiten, bessere Qualität, höhere Genauigkeit in Verbindung
FAST DRIVE SOLUTIONS WITH SOLUTIONKIT ®
Faster cycle times, better quality, higher accuracy in conjunction with
a high degree of customisation - these are the requirements of today’s
customer. This is clearly demonstrated in the increasing demand for
smaller production batch sizes. However, it is necessary to keep costs
low and to continually reduce these by overall standardisation and
developing and converting solutions within a narrow timeframe.
In order to cut these Gordian knots, Harmonic Drive AG has for many
years adopted the modular principle of the automotive industry.
In drive technology there are other priorities, but the concept is
comparable: various technologies for gears, motors, feedback systems,
output bearings and other components are designed in such a way that
they can be used in different modular combinations. SolutionKit® from
Harmonic Drive AG enables customised solutions to be realised with a
high degree of individualisation within a short period of time.
Since modularisation takes place within the company, it is not necessary
to resort to standard interfaces, allowing for a high degree of
integration. Adaptation of interfaces remains flexible, for example,
between motors and gears whilst the technologically sophisticated
elements such as gear component sets, motor windings and motor
rotors can be adopted. Thus, development work carried out in
advance can be applied in many projects. This flexibility requires a
corresponding high degree of know how in the design stage in
order to ensure mechanical compatibility (form and position tolerances)
and environmental effects (corrosion protection, sealing concept)
and internal compatibility (contact corrosion through varying
electrochemical potential).
This is apparent in the Alopex® Series which was derived from the
standard CHA Servo Actuator: surface protection has been integrated
in order to fulfil the increased requirements of corrosion protection.
A special lubricant is used for the extended temperature range,
higher vibration and shock loads were taken into consideration
in the detail design whilst the feedback system can be selected
corresponding to customer interfaces and requirements. The same
applies to the operating voltages which deviate from the industry
standard, but conceptually it is still a motor from the CHM Series and a
Harmonic Drive® Component Set.
The SolutionKit® from Harmonic Drive AG is continually being
expanded with new components, important criteria for incorporation
into the system are market expectations and customer requirements.
We will also increasingly use SolutionKit® in the future to supply newly
developed customised technologies faster to the market before these
have to pass through extensive approvals of a new series.
MECHATRONIK – NEUE KOMPAKTE HOHLWELLENANTRIEBE
MECHATRONICS – NEW COMPACT HOLLOW SHAFT ACTUATORS
GERINGES GEWICHT,
KLEINES VOLUMEN, HOHE EFFIZIENZ
LOW WEIGHT, LOW VOLUME, HIGH EFFICIENCY
With the demand for more compact, more powerful and more cost
effective machine tools, comes an increase in the actuation
requirements of machining heads. Actuators are required with
integrated hollow shaft and a high degree of robustness and protection,
which can be accurately positioned without the need for referencing.
These compact designs also need a high capacity, tilt resistant output
bearing for direct mounting of the tool; therefore it was logical for
Harmonic Drive AG to expand their successful series of CHA Hollow Shaft
Actuators into smaller sizes to meet these demands.
Well prepared for the future.
In the development of the new CHA-14 and CHA-17 Hollow Shaft
Actuators, individual components were placed on the test bench and
improved, resulting in low weight, low volume and highly efficient
actuators. Naturally, all the outstanding properties of its “big brother“
have been adopted such as large hollow shaft, IP65 protection, compact
design, holding brake and compatibility with standard servo controllers. In
the design of the actuator, value has been placed on the functionality and
reliability expected of Harmonic Drive® servo products. As a further
development of the proven FHA-14C/17C Series Servo Actuators they
now feature:
Designed for use in precise rotary axes
Zero backlash, high torsional stiffness and accuracy in conjunction with
a high degree of efficiency are the attributes of all Harmonic Drive®
Gears. But there’s more ... . By using a special setting procedure during the
production process, the new Hollow Shaft Actuators are further
optimised in terms of transmission accuracy. This virtually pre-destines
these servo actuators for demanding drive systems in machine tool
engineering.
Newly developed precision four point bearings
The pre-stressed zero backlash four point bearings are used as flange
bearings. As a result, they can be assembled directly onto the machine
housing; the load is connected to the inner raceway of the precision
bearing without the need for an intermediate flange. This structure
guarantees the best parallelism, perpendicularity and coaxiality of the
actuator to the machine housing and importantly also saves cost.
Compact synchronous motor with excellent synchronous properties
A compact synchronous motor with concentrated motor winding
has been specially designed for the CHA-14 and CHA-17 Series Servo
Actuators which has been encapsulated to further increase the power
density in a vacuum process. The forerunners of this project were tested
in the tough ambient conditions of aeronautics for suitability and thus
guarantee maximum reliability.
Complete system with servo controller
The CHA-14 and CHA-17 Hollow Shaft Actuators can be easily integrated
with the compact controller YukonDrive®. The generation of movement
profiles can take place in a superordinate control or directly in the servo
controller. This is designed for use in the lower and middle power range
and is best suited for highly dynamic movements.
ACRYL TRIFFT AUF METALL
ACRYLIC MEETS ON METAL
Logopädie in Idstein.
Entscheidung?
ABSTRACT PRECISION
Theresa Krischke was born in 1988 in Hadamar and has been interested
in art since her early childhood. She is currently studying speech therapy
in Idstein, but works as an artist in her spare time and began using the
"acrylic on canvas" spatula technique for her work in 2008.
newdrive: Mrs Krischke, you have chosen a very abstract form of painting
for this design image. What influenced this decision?
Harmonic Drive AG künstlerisch in Szene gesetzt. Was ist Ihr persönlicher
Zukunft.
Theresa Krischke: I am inspired by colors and their transitions into each
other more than just static forms. Therefore, the high precision of the
product was a challenge which I was happy to accept. My goal was to
combine the abstraction that represents my spatula technique with
the straight lines of the product and to create smooth transitions.
Opposites attract and this contrast lends a certain charm to a painting,
distinguishing it from others.
newdrive: You set the LynxDrive® Servo Actuator, a product of
Harmonic Drive AG, in an artistic scene. What is your personal drive
and what does art means to you?
Theresa Krischke: My personal drive comes from many things, some of
which are stable and some varying. My friends and family provide the
steady influence in my life which allows me to balance both my art and
my speech therapy degree in Idstein. I also take regular exercise which
relaxes me yet enriches my artistic creativity with all its abstract chaos
and randomness.
newdrive: Harmonic Drive AG always manages to set new milestones in
the development of superior transmission technologies. How do you feel
in general about the speed of technological progress?
Theresa Krischke: In my view, technological progress takes a
rapid course and has a high priority. German drive technologies
such as Harmonic Drive AG are guarantors for the best possible
development in this area. Harmonic Drive AG places high value in
ecology, economics and medical technology. The latter having
a particular bearing on my latest career by being a great influence
on the high, ever evolving technological standards in health care. This
influence is thus making a positive contribution to a better future.
PRODUCTION EXPANSION
NEUER ANTRIEB
Executive President Masanao Kobayashi with project manager
Tim Wallner in the new production hall
Deutschland. Inwiefern haben Sie japanische Produktivitäts- bzw. Effizienz-
Modelle in Ihre Überlegungen der Werkserweiterung einfließen lassen?
Masanao Kobayashi: Eine Menge, denn alle erfolgreichen Unternehmungen
Was
Alte.“
PRODUCTION EXPANSION
NEUIGKEITEN DER HARMONIC DRIVE AG / JUBILARE / MESSETERMINE
NEWS FROM THE HARMONIC DRIVE AG / ANNIVERSARIES / TRADE FAIR DATES
NEW DRIVE … A SYSTEM FOR THE FUTURE
On the 13th of September 2013, the inauguration of the new production
facility took place with invited guests and employees of Harmonic Drive
AG. Following the welcome by the Chief Executive Officer, Ekrem Sirman,
the Chairman of the Supervisory Board and Principal, Reinhard Ernst,
movingly described the challenges which had to be mastered from the
company’s beginnings through to today’s impressive factory expansion.
Referring to the success factors and the future potential of the company,
Reinhard Ernst concluded with an appeal to all concerned, “namely to
develop and manufacture products needed by our customers”, saying
that this was the very purpose of the factory expansion. Thereafter, the
Chief Operation Officer, Masanao Kobayashi, was available to explain in
detail what is behind the term “A System for the Future”.
JUBILARE EMPLOYEE ANNIVERSARIES
newdrive: Mr. Kobayashi, as a Board Member, you are also responsible for
the Production at Harmonic Drive AG. Which strategic areas do you focus
on with the factory expansion?
Masanao Kobayashi: The absolute priority with all strategic
decisions taken by Harmonic Drive AG is the market orientation. To us, the
“factory expansion” does not just mean expanded floor space but rather the
creation of optimum conditions for the future of Harmonic Drive AG.
Looking back on the history of our company in Europe, we have always
taken continuous steps forward. For example, I am thinking about the
construction for the gearbox production in the 1990s, the development
of our engineering capacity and the intensification of the system
business in the first decade of this century. Over the years,
Harmonic Drive AG changed from being a component supplier to
becoming a solution provider – an evolutionary development, driven
by market orientation.
From a production perspective, the focus included increased efficiency,
adaptability and increased throughput, not to forget environmental
and workplace safety aspects which were of major importance during
planning. Generally, stable processes, assured quality and a lean
organisation were always present as guiding principles before, during
and after the construction phase. Many additional ideas influenced
the implementation in order for us to progress both technically and
logistically. Thanks to the project team under the leadership of
Tim Wallner, we managed to successfully link tradition and innovations
for the future.
newdrive: You yourself are Japanese but have lived in Germany for over 30
years. To what extent did you include Japanese productivity and efficiency
models in your thoughts regarding of the factory expansion?
Masanao Kobayashi: To a large extent … since all successful companies
have one thing in common, namely being receptive to new ideas.
Regardless of country-specific preferences, it is always important to
recognise both positives and negatives, to then be able to assess and judge
objectively. It has been a few years since new approaches such as
“Just in Time”, “One-Piece-Flow”, “Kaizen” or “Lean Production” have
brought about changes to the global production environment. With the
experience from various optimisation processes, Harmonic Drive AG has
found that a symbiosis of theory and practice yields important results for
production and technology. We succeeded in creating a synergy from the
advantages of two industrial nations, Germany and Japan, which has also
been incorporated into the factory expansion.
newdrive: By expanding the production area, is there now the
possibility of changing the machinery and thus the portfolio of
Harmonic Drive AG, too? How do your customers specifically
benefit from this internal progress?
Masanao Kobayashi: Several positive aspects must be mentioned
straightaway: To start with, we are free to opt for expanding the
breadth and depth of both our production technology and our product
range. By expanding the breadth, we mean – in addition to the existing
gearbox technology – drive technologies such as motor technology, sensor
technology and control technology which, specifically, represent
important components of the system solutions. Motor
manufacturing and servo technology, in particular, will really take off in
future. As regards depth, the research and development in the fields of
materials, tribology, bearing technologies as well as machining and
assembly technologies must be mentioned, where significant
progress has already been achieved. In R+D and in the area of
manufacturing technologies, we will greatly benefit from the potential
newly created by the factory expansion.
A further aspect is the quantitative increase in throughput, in the
production. In addition to the previous increases in efficiency and
productivity, making optimum use of the production space, we are more
flexible and dynamic to better meet the market requirements. In this
respect, too, we are nowhere near the limit of what is possible.
With the factory expansion, we have reached an important milestone and
laid a good foundation for the future development. I would like to finish
with a Far Eastern proverb that reflects our thoughts: “To master the new,
one must maintain and care for what’s (good and) old.”
Facts
• 4,000 m² in additional production space
• Flexible process media supply for machines and process lines
• 2,500 m² in new space for metrology room, warehouse and
social facilities
