DIe sCHWerpuNKTe Im JAHr 2010: Das Österreichische
JI/CDM-Programm konnte weitere Ankäufe
von Emissionsreduktionen aus drei Projekten (ein JI
Schemes (GIS) mit Estland nach Empfehlung der
Kommission in Angelegenheiten des Österreichischen
JI/CDM-Programms und nach Genehmigung
des Umweltministers tätigen. Damit sicherte sich
Österreich zusätzliche 4,6 Mio. Tonnen Emissionsreduktionseinheiten
für die Periode 2008 bis 2012.
2003 gestartet, stehen im Rahmen des Österreichischen
JI/CDM-Programms bislang insgesamt 77
Projekte sowie eine Fondsbeteiligung, drei Carbon-
PRioRities in 2010: Under the Austrian JI/CDM Programme,
Green Investment Schemes (GIS) were concluded with
recommendation of the Commission for the Austrian
JI/CDM Programme. Thus, the Republic of Austria was
able to secure another 4.6 million tonnes of emission
reduction units for the commitment period from 2008
to 2012.
Since its launching in 2003, contracts have already
been concluded for a total of 77 projects, an investment
in a fund, three carbon facilities and three Green Investment
Schemes under the Austrian JI/CDM Programme.
About 48.9 million tonnes of emission reduction units
have been contracted and count towards the Austrian
Kyoto target. The average price per tonne is EUR 8.99
(excluding intangible costs).
For KPC, co-founder, operator and programme manager
of Climate Austria, this initiative was a logical expansion
of its range of services in the area of environmental
and climate protection, which now target both private
individuals and commercial enterprises. Besides governmental
support schemes and emission reduction
purchasing programmes, the Climate Austria CO 2
compensation programme, developed and implemented
in 2008, represented a first step towards involving environmentally
aware private consumers and businesses
in the fight against climate change on a voluntary basis.
Quality assurance is essential in the CO 2
calculation
methods underlying the programme as well as in the
selection of climate-related projects to be supported
by Climate Austria. Moreover, utmost transparency in
the use of the voluntary contributions collected –
