This lecture offers an introduction to Complex Geomerty through Riemann Surfaces (complex manifolds
of dimension one). The theory of Riemann Surfaces is on one hand very rich and important for it's own
sake and has implications in many mathematical fields (differential geometry, algebraic topology, algebraic
geometry, the calculus of variations and elliptic partial differential equations) and physics (string theory).
On the other hand, it will serve as motivation for the more general constructions in several variables.
Riemann surfaces are an ideal meeting ground for analysis, geometry, and algebra and as ideally suited
for displaying the unity of mathematics. We will present the fundamental concepts of algebraic topology
(fundamental group, homology and cohomology), the most important notions and results of Riemannian
geometry (metric, curvature, geodesic lines, Gauss-Bonnet theorem), the regularity theory for elliptic partial
differential equations including the relevant concepts of functional analysis (Hilbert- and Banach spaces
and in particular Sobolev spaces), and many important ideas and results from algebraic geometry (divisors,
Riemann-Roch theorem, projective spaces, algebraic curves).
52032 Übungen zur Komplexen Geometrie
2 SWS; Übung
Do. 10 - 11.30, 162 Mathematik, Seminarraum 3 des Mathematischen Instituts
(Raum 314)
4 SWS; Vorlesung
Di. 14 - 15.30, 136a Botanik großer Hörsaal, Großer Hörsaal der Biologischen
Institute
Do. 8 - 9.30, 136a Botanik großer Hörsaal, Großer Hörsaal der Biologischen
