AND BALLET
The ballet school of Ljubljana Music and Ballet Conservatory has been a recognisable institution for over
60 years. Many generations of our ballet students have continued their dancing careers at home or abroad.
Majority of dancers of the Slovene National Opera and Ballet in Ljubljana are our former students.
The ballet school was relocated to new premises a couple of years ago and now our students practise in
five newly equipped studios. During each school year we organise numerous performances of classical
and contemporary choreographies. Our students are successful at competitions and performances in
Slovenia and abroad and we take part in international festivals in Trieste, Gorizia, Vienna, etc. The choreographies
are mostly prepared by our own teachers, mostly by Tanja Pavlič. However, we also invite
foreign artists to choreograph or stage short ballet performances, or hold ballet seminars. In the last few
years we were privileged to work with James Amar, Evelyn Téri, Gagik Ismailian, Irek Mukhamedov, John
Bliekendaal, Jocelyn Alizart, Richard Adama, etc. Each generation of students brings forth new artistic
stimulation and teachers are always looking forward to new challenges.
