diPama: love of oddities
For the new season the Italians are generous with oddities
thereby bringing quite some extravagance to fashion.
Buttons and labels come in surprising new shapes
mixing “select” materials with apparently “poorer
ones”. At times leather undergoes handcrafted treatments,
while at others is treated with high-tech agents,
metal meets with coloured gems and time and again iridescent
and fluorescent lacquers produce unexpected
gloss and colours effects. h1 | d 07
diPama: Kuriositäten-lieBe
stenGer: Patent Parade
A summery feel and elegance is exuded by the pastel
and pearl-coloured patent accessories of this German
specialist. Transparent buttons have metallic lacquer
reverses and harmonise with matching patent pendants.
Lightness is also the name of the game for pale
blue, high-tech materials featured alongside white,
lacquered “pronto per tinto” buttons. The natural feel
is elegant here. Golden fibres and layers run through
cork materials while fake snakeskin covers ribbons,
trimmings and belts. Time and again linen looks feature
while African designs in shocking colours and earthy
tones follow on from the ethnic theme. H2 | C 14
Runde tragen. h2 | C 14
YKK: ultimate liGhtness
YKK’s new zippers are the epitome of lightness. Featuring
tapes from mono-filament polyester and transparent
nylon chains this version for spiral and VISLON®
zippers is available in chain widths of five millimetres
and new chain colours. Similarly lightweight but with a
sportier appeal is the VISLON®-FLAT Element. Scoring
with its square teeth and polyester tape this zipper
is now offered with a narrow, 3 mm wide chain. Very
hip, in contrast to this are the water-repellent VISLON®
zippers in the new metallic tones light blue, rosé, light
green, turquoise, purple and copper, which are sold
as “AquaGuard® VISLON® VT9 Metalic Color”. The
elastic zipper SOFLEX® and the curved Exella®Curve
complete the current trend spectrum. H1 | B 01
„Very cool“ wirken dagegen unter „AquaGuard®
VISLON® VT9 Metalic Color“ die wasserabweisenden
VISLON®-Reißverschlüsse in den neuen Metallfarben
Blau, Rosa, Hellgrün, Türkis, Lila und Kupfer. Der elastische
Zipper SOFLEX® und der gekurvte Exella®Curve
komplettieren das aktuelle Trendspektrum. H1 | B 01
Butonia KahaGe: Buttons for a flirt
This German producer’s elegant buttons in bright
gold, shiny silver, transparent materials and burnished
metals appear as light and innocuous as a
summer flirt. The German specialists also interpret
natural looks by using pale wood in a light and summery
way although aged wooden looks and other
natural materials are also employed. In keeping with
the abundance of colour in menswear pert accent
colours jazz up the buttons
for shirts, jackets and suits.
Laser-treated or printed jeans
buttons echo the new clean
chic in the denim segment.
Elegante Knöpfe aus hellem Gold,
glänzendem Silber, transparenten Materialien und
brünierten Metallen kommen bei dem deutschen
Hersteller leicht und unverfänglich wie ein Sommerflirt
daher.
eurojerseY: Glamour
Eurojersey’s latest developments in the Sensitive® Fabrics
range for ready-to-wear primarily focus on a subtle
interplay of colours, textures and crochet effects. Elegant
cream nuances, golden ochre, lavender blue and
dusky grey, though also electric blue, red tones and vibrant
pink, add a touch of glamour to womenswear. In
contrast to this, the menswear items are characterised
by Air Force blue and natural brown and green tones.
By launching ten new colour shades the Italians are
paving the way for a plethora of new combination ideas
on their colour card. Alongside extremely fine patterns
in foggy shades, geometric designs based on proprietary
ECOPRINT technology, tone-on-tone floral prints
and digital animal prints, these high-tech materials exude
their very own, aspirational aesthetics combining
comfort, functionality and elegance. s2 | e 216
eurojerseY: Glamour
Elegante Crème-Nuancen, goldenes Ocker, Lavendel-
Kombinationsideen. Zusammen mit extrem feinen Musterungen
in nebligen Farben, geometrischen Dessins,
die auf der eigenen ECOPRINT-Technologie basieren,
floralen Ton-in-Ton-Drucken und digitalen Animal Prints
verbreiten die Hightech-Qualitäten eine ganz eigene,
anspruchsvolle Ästhetik aus Komfort, Funktionalität
und Eleganz. s2 | e 216
lanifiCio ZiGnone: lovinG attention to detail
Here buzzwords like “colour interplay”, “double”, “threedimensional
effects”, “light” and “extra-light” make you
prick up your ears. These Italians have taken a closer
look at novel textures for suit and jacket fabrics. Featuring
for the first time are new striped fabrics with specific
leno weaves, plus elaborate micro-structures and new
blends including silk, cotton/wool or cotton/spandex.
Radiant colours, blue shades, brown, beige and green
go hand in hand with reversible fabrics for new jacket
styles. Stretchy cotton/wool mixtures surprise us with
a Panama texture on the face and knitted looks on the
reverse. So it is worth visitors also taking a closer look
at the following collection segments: “Event”, “Soul”
with a new frozen finish for washed-down looks in
wool/linen, “Eco Wash” and “Zone” with new GOTScertified
fabrics. s2 | f 203
lanifiCio ZiGnone: lieBe Zum detail
Es sind Stichworte wie „Farbspiele“, „Double“, „dreidimensionale
Effekte“, „Licht“ und „extraleicht“, die
aufhorchen lassen. Intensiv haben sich die Italiener
mit neuen Strukturen für Anzug- und Sakkoqualitäten
beschäftigt. Erstmals gibt es neue Streifenbilder mit
speziellen Dreherbindungen, zudem ausgefeilte Mikrostrukturen
und neue Mischungen mit Seide, Baumwolle/Wolle
oder Baumwolle/Elastan. Leuchtende Farben,
Blauschattierungen, Braun, Beige und Grün gehen
einher mit reversiblen Waren für neue Jackenstyles. So
neuen GOTS-zertifizierten Artikeln. s2 | f 203
The German textile service provider Freshtex is moving
into its third season together with CENTRAL FABRICS,
the innovative denim specialist from Hong Kong, and
has continuously adapted this collection to the needs
of the German market. A strong focus is on stretch materials
in medium to light weight categories with Lycra
or Dualfix and also blends incorporating Viscose and
Tencel. In addition, they developed a coloured denim
collection. Freshtex manages distribution for Central
Fabrics in the German-speaking area. The close cooperation
between the two companies also boosts
the offer range in the area of sustainable and environmentally
friendly denims. CENTRAL is especially strong
in the area of recycled denims, and in this regard has
again optimised the colour recipes and expanded
the selection. The programme also includes organic
Denims and GOTS-certified items. The company also
has an in-house recycling programme. h5 | C 19
as sulphur blue, beige and grey. Wool themes are
translated into summery looks with panama weave or
Yesterday was the perfect season starter: Exciting collections, great
atmosphere, lots of information and finally the first Denim Night at
HE.A.R.T., where we turned the night into day.
The buzz of excitement at the MUNICH FABRIC START exhibition was
obvious from the very beginning yesterday. Innovative collections,
exciting discussions on trends and sustainability efforts in the denim
industry and well attended talks at the TrENdSEMINARS created
a super atmosphere. As before, the MUNICH FABRIC START
exhibition was a great way to launch the new round of fabrics again
– both for exhibitors and visitors. Moreover, the merging of the ECO
Village and organicselection turned out to be a perfect solution.
Visitors very much appreciated the option of obtaining direct help
from experts in the selection of materials and therefore made
intensive use of it. Information was still in demand towards the end
of the day. Sustainability Talks@BLUEZONE from Textile Exchange
and Lenzing in collaboration with MUNICH FABRIC START noticed
a good feedback meanwhile large numbers came to the Molecule
trend presentation. We hope you’ll enjoy the rest of the event.
Viel
Spaß bei der Fortsetzung.
My number one is “Il Borgo”. Everything just
suits with this Italian: the relaxed atmosphere,
the excellent quality of food and wines but also
the cordiality of both the owners and the staff
Meine Nummer eins ist das Il Borgo. Bei diesem
aber auch die Herzlichkeit, die die Inhaber
Italy is well-known for its creativity and textile
I feel even more resolute about continuing to lead
Reading the newspaper you often get the impression
the situation is really serious, and certainly we are going
around me, in Biella, I see many examples of companies,
large and small, that continue to invest in creativity,
machinery, human resources, and I am convinced
that business and management are healthy; they are
the driving force behind the Italian economy which will
I think so. In the Biella textile zone we saw a major
crisis some years ago, due to the new globalised
markets. Those companies understanding the constant
need for innovation and investments have now
gained a stronger position on international markets.
Our expertise, quality and creativity are recognised
In many respects it is a mystery for me too ... these
which I know very well.
Massimo Angelico (lks.), Alberto Angelico
ABOUT ANGELICA:
Angelico was founded by his father Giuseppe in the
early 50s in Ronco Biellese, in the Biella wool and textile
district. He is in charge of the fabric division, while
his younger brother Alberto runs the ready-to-wear
menswear division and the Angelico stores network.
The company has become an international leader in
the production of menswear fabrics (with integrated
spinning, weaving and finishing) specialised in processing
the highest quality wools and natural fibres. Under
the sons’ direction Angelico has achieved major results
in terms of profits, export and flexible production and
has initiated innovative communication projects such
as sponsorship of the Angelico Biella basket team that
competes in Italy’s main national championship.
Italien ist berühmt für seine Kreativität und
Creations roBert vernet:
textile desiGn for the World
Over 2,000 new textile designs per month, backed
up by 53 years of tradition and expertise, 25 in-house
designers, worldwide exports, customers such as
Zadig & Voltaire, Zara, Ralph Lauren, Abercrombie &
Fitch, Deveaux, Miroglio and Sedatex and sales of over
$6,500,000: these are facts and figures which show
straight away why Creations Robert Vernet S.A.S. is
so self-confident in its role as the “leading worldwide
textile design studio”. The fully integrated operations,
brands and designer houses of this world and also
textile printers are familiar customers at Vernet’s where
they purchase their printed designs. Since 1989 customers
have also been coming from the home textiles
industry, a sector which now contributes 20 per cent
to Vernet’s income.
The Vernet family is part of Lyon’s textile history and
has clear roots in this city. The design studio was
founded in 1957, as a supplier to Lyon’s silk weaving
industry, which was flourishing at the time. However,
the emergence of a strong printing industry eventually
also changed the focus of this design studio. Finally, its
income was no longer generated by jacquard, but by
printed designs. With Stéphane and Dominique Vernet
as its managers, the company has long been headed
by its second generation. With textile design and Lyon’s
textile traditions in their genes, they are untiringly “fighting”
for their trade to be recognized, as they believe it
is still rather “unknown”. After all, their contribution to
the market is engineering plus creativity, while being
inspired by the course of time and by people, drawing
on a century-old tradition that puts dreams onto textiles
and gives substance to those dreams. They take
us into impressionist worlds, shake us out of complacency
through Pop Art, they reanimate Coptic, Indian
and Peruvian woven designs – always in tune with the
most diverse materials and with their experience in the
latest printing technologies. Creations Robert Vernet
can be found at 14 global trade fairs and is now also
represented at MUNICH FABRIC START.
Creations Robert Vernet: Textildesign für die Welt
Mehr als 2.000 neue Textildesigns pro Monat, 53 Jahre
Tradition und Know-how im Rücken, 25 inhäusige
Dessinateure, ein weltweiter Export, Kunden wie Zadig
& Voltaire, Zara, Ralph Lauren, Abercrombie & Fitch,
die Creation Robert Vernet S.A.S selbstbewusst
Philea textiles: sure instinCt
and KnoW-hoW
For years, the French company Philea Textiles has
been synonymous with silky and feminine fashion fabrics.
Here the designers of established brands meet
their younger, trendy colleagues. The French continue
to underline their creative instinct for lightweight, feminine
fabrics without losing sight of the commercial aspect.
Again and again, they emphasise their excellent
know-how for top-notch viscose materials and cleverly
create new looks using sophisticated yarns, bonds and
equipment. For the 2013 Summer season, the French
are revelling in dreamlike pastels and pretty prints that
signal one thing for sure – lots of optimism.
The foundation is provided by elegant, flowing fabrics
that interpret the appealing play with light and shine in
a modern and subtle way. Front runners on the internal
hit list of Philea are fabrics with a grainy and crimped
touch, in different weights and finishings. “Such goods
are very important, even if they are not brand-new as
far as trends are concerned,” the design team rules
and refers to new, lightweight yet compact crepe fabrics
made of viscose|linen, for example. In addition,
silky, smooth and flowing viscose articles are important,
but in a matte appearance rather than a shiny
one, they say. Softness is added through new mixes
such as MicroModal|silk|Lycra or the new enzymatic
soft-finishings. The company proves that it still believes
in natural aspects by expanding its linen optics. This
includes Tencel|linen|Lycra blends but also open textures,
fils flottés and jacquards with a linen look and
feel. All this is translated into neutral hues and also
fresh pastel colours. These are combined with each
other in various gradients or with neutral colours such
as grey or make-up shades. The prints are reminiscent
of the Orient or alienate historic paisleys. Checks
are subtle, often clay-coloured and sometimes end in
freely drawn lines. Monochrome interpretations collide
with water colour patterns and artistic designs based
on freely drawn circles in the style of Delaunay.
At Philea Textiles, 40 employees produce two million
metres of fabric for the womenswear segment every
year. Currently, the specialists have another project on
the burner for their delicate fabrics. They are looking to
develop low-maintenance and crease-resistant lightweight
materials.
Lenzing FR®, the flame resistant fibre, again proved its
worth at the “World Police & Fire Games 2011” in New
York. Austrian Herbert Kress, who yet again walked
away with the title “Ultimate Firefighter”, has been testing
the fibre for a year at various competitions. His conclusion:
“The fibre protects from overheating and excessive
sweating.” The cooperation with the Austrian
fibre corporation has opened the eyes of the athlete
and volunteer firefighter, “Ever since I’ve been working
with Lenzing, I have become aware of how important
the right selection of materials is.” If the clothing
is right, one can concentrate on the important issues.
Lenzing FR® with its excellent moisture management,
skin-friendly characteristics and its inherent flame-resistance
makes it the right choice for competition and
interpretieren. Besonders körnige und kreppige Griffe
in verschiedenen Gewichten und Ausrüstungen führen
dabei Phileas interne Hitliste an.
in frische Pastelltöne. Diese werden in verschiedenen
Farbhöhen miteinander oder mit Neutraltönen wie
Grau oder einem Make-up-Ton kombiniert. Die Drucke
sind orientalisch angehaucht oder aber verfremden
historische Paisleys. Karos sind dezent, häufig tonig
und enden gelegentlich in frei gezeichneten Linien.
Monochrome Interpretationen treffen auf Aquarelldessins
und künstlerische Dessins aus frei gezeichneten
Kreisen im Delaunay-Stil.
Bei Philea Textiles produzieren jährlich 40 Mitarbeiter
zwei Millionen Meter Stoff für die Womenswear. Aktuell
