1 Perfect Dinner Rosa Luxemburg Platz seems to suffer from insufficient communication. Habitational, political, social and cultural functions share a more or less lifeless but very exposed space, which is sparely used by passersby to rest for a few minutes. The residents remain introverted, like their lonesome backyards, partially feeling offended by actions located at the agora (and kubus) and forming a citizens initiative, declaring war on the Volksbühne, which, like a monarch, has come to the throne at this place The Agora itself, provided by the Volksbühne, a cultural as well as political establishment, gave up to be a social institution, originally offering space for public gatherings and discussions, and turned literally its back on the neighborhood. The party “die Linke“ stamped the place with their political claims, using it as a one sided communicational platform. A café next to the Babylon shows well-staffed tables in front, with people enjoying their Latte-Machiato, but chases away everyone sitting down without taking offer of their menue. Not even travellers, located at the youth hostel, seem to take advantage of the juicy green grass to relax for a few minutes, as if being aflicted with agoraphobia. All these functions seem to have retreated, hiding out in their caves, leaving an anonymous and social fallow ground with little substructure for communication and political, cultural debates, thus turning this politically and historically charged place inside out. The question is how to bring this seperate communities together to live up the (social) space they are sharing? We suggest to ask our “guests“ to take their places at the table in the truest sense of the word. We provide a well layed table, as a symbolic and sculptural out of place object, leaving nothing to be desired, offering seats and exquisite dishes for the different communities and everyone else willing for chitchat or serious talk, therefore evolving a scaffolding for further dicussions or common grown projects. As the Rosa Luxemburg Platz seems to suffer from the same diseases as its inhabitants and guests it features the best coulisse for this play. If not so at least everyone can bang his hand on the table.
