Auf der rund 765’000 m2 grossen Fläche des St. Moritzersees werden in tagelanger Arbeit
60’000 m2 Geläuf und 70’000 m2 Eventbereich angelegt. Über 75 Zeltbauten werden erstellt,
davon auf ca. 2’500 m2 das VIP-Zelt für die geladenen Gäste. Rund 1‘100 Prominente aus
Wirtschaft, Politik und Gesellschaft werden pro Sonntag im VIP-Zelt kulinarisch verwöhnt. 40
bis 50 Tonnen Lebensmittel werden allein an den drei Renntagen verbraucht. Daneben werden
beim Public Catering 8’000 Würste, 1’000 Portionen chinesische Spezialitäten, 750 Portionen
Risotto, 950 Portionen Raclette und u. a. gut 2’000 gefüllte Schokoladenkugeln verkauft. Rund
100 Journalisten akkreditierten sich jedes Wochenende im Pressezelt auf dem zugefrorenen
St. Moritzersee und wurden durch das Presse-Team ganztags betreut und verpflegt.

The 60,000 sqm racetrack and an event area of 70,000 sqm are prepared with no time or effort
spared on an expanse of some 765,000 sqm stretching across the frozen lake of St. Moritz. More
than 75 tents have to be put up including the VIP tent of just under 2,500 sqm for the invited guests.
About 1,100 VIPs, celebrities from business, politics and high society are served culinary delights
in the VIP tent on each race Sunday. No less than 40 to 50 tons of food are consumed on the
three racing days. In addition, the public catering sold 8,000 sausages, 1,000 portions of Chinese
specialities, 750 portions of risotto, 950 portions of raclette and well over 2,000 small, cream-filled
chocolate cakes. Almost 100 journalists were accredited on each weekend in the press tent on the
frozen lake of St. Moritz. They were attended to and catered for all day long by the press team.

Anlässlich des ersten „Kids Day“ am zweiten Rennsonntag mit speziellen Attraktionen
für Kinder sammelte White Turf durch den Verkauf von köstlichen Appenzeller
Biberli an die Besucher auf dem See Spenden zugunsten der Schweizer Stiftung
Theodora-Clowns für unsere Kinder im Spital. Die Charity-Aktion stand unter dem
Patronat der beiden Hauptsponsoren- Credit Suisse und BMW(Schweiz)AG-und des
St.Moritzer Cashmere House Lamm sowie der White Turf Racing Association. Dank
ihnen wurde der Erlös noch aufgerundet,so dass die stolze Spendensumme von
CHF 10’000 für die Schweizer Stiftung Theodora zusammenkam.

On the occasion of the first „Kids’ Day“ with special attractions for children on the
second race Sunday, White Turf sold delicious “Appenzeller Lebkuchen” to the
visitors to collect money for the Swiss charity “Foundation Theodora, clowns for
our children in hospital”. The charity campaign was under the auspices of the two
main sponsors Credit Suisse and BMW (Switzerland) AG, as well as the Cashmere
House Lamm in St. Moritz and the White Turf Racing Association. Thanks to them
the proceeds were rounded up to an impressive donation of CHF 10,000 for the
Swiss “Foundation Theodora”.

Mit Preisgeldern von insgesamt über CHF 460’000 übertrifft der White Turf alle im
Schweizer Rennsport sonst üblichen Gewinnsummen: Der als Europa-Championnat auf
Schnee ausgeschriebene „Gübelin - Grosser Preis von St. Moritz“ ist mit CHF 131’131
das höchstdotierte Rennen der Schweiz, beim „BMW – Grosser Traberpreis Pontresina“
werden CHF 30’000 vergeben.
highest prize money in swiss racing sports
With a total prize money of more than CHF 460,000, White Turf offers higher rewards
than any other Swiss racing event. The European championship on snow, the ‘Gübelin
–Grand Prix of St. Moritz’, has the highest stakes of all Swiss racing sports, with the
legendary prize money of CHF 131,131, while at the ‘BMW – Grand Trotting Prize
Pontresina’ the total prize money distributed is CHF 30,000.

White Turf 2012 stand auch künstlerisch im Zeichen des Pferdes. Es war das erste Mal, dass eine breitere Öffentlichkeit eine der
eindrucksvollen Pferdeskulpturen von Curdin Guler bewundern konnte. Der vielen als aktiver Teilnehmer des Skikjöring-Rennens
bekannte Kunstschaffende aus dem Münstertal verwendet für seine Werke Holz, Bronze und Metall.
Ein weiterer Höhepunkt waren die Werke des im Engadin wohnhaften Designers und Künstlers Stoislav Zivkovski. Basierend auf der
alten Handwerkskunst des Sgraffito erzählen seine eindrucksvollen Bilder von der Schönheit des Engadins, von Pferderennen und
Siegerehrungen.

White Turf 2012 was all about horses, also from an artistic point of view. For the first time a wider public had the chance to admire
one of Curdin Guler’s impressive horse sculptures. Known as an active participant of the skikjöring race, the artist from the Val
Müstair uses wood, bronze and metal for his works.
Another highlight were the works of the designer and artist Stoislav Zivkovski, who lives in the Engadin. Based on the ancient
sgraffito technique, his impressive pictures capture the beauty of the Engadin and tell of horse races and award ceremonies.
