Joris Clerté, *1969, studied Fine
Arts in Poitiers in the area of composition
of images and digital arts.
He has worked for French television
for the channel France 3 and for
ARTE France, making trailers, reports,
and programmes (Cosmic Connexion)
and has collaborated, among
other things, on a research workshop
for the launch of a new
›Karambolage‹ (cultural weekly).,
Some of the most notable works of
his career are advertisements and
numerous animated music videos.

PUZZLED
Maarten Vranken
Ein stampfendes Puzzle fügt Choreografie
zusammen: das überlagerte
Bildmaterial besteht aus sieben animierten
Personen, wird strukturiert
von den sieben Kontrastfarben und
wird begleitet von einer Komposition
für sieben Klaviere. Es ist unmöglich,
diese hypnotisierende audiovisuelle
Erfahrung nach einmaligem
Anschauen zu erfassen und lässt dadurch
den Zuschauer völlig verblüfft
(›puzzled‹) zurück.
A pounding puzzle pieces together choreography:
layered visuals consist of seven
animated characters, are structured by the
seven colour contrasts and are accompanied
by a composition for seven pianos.
This mesmerising audiovisual experience is
impossible to comprehend after one screening
and thus leaves the spectator completely
›Puzzled‹.
Maarten Vranken graduated at
the University of Art and Design
Sint-Lukas Brussels. He now works
in Brussels as a freelance illustrator,
story boarder, animator, director
and independent filmmaker.

Gerard Freixes Ribera, *1979 in
Igualada, Barcelona, Spain. He studied
Fine Arts at the University of
Barcelona, specialising in Video and
even working there for a year as a
supervisor in the Video Lab. Nowadays,
he works as video editor, while
taking time to do more personal
work.
