The AFC TEDS: Aims
• Aims of study twofold;
1. Assess the relative contribution of genes and
environment to attachment status in
adolescence (Can we rule out heritability?)
2. Examine the concurrent link between
attachment insecurity and antisocial
behaviour in adolescence
• Unique study and first to focus on the behavioural
genetics of attachment in adolescence
• Recruit 650 families from the original cohort of
same-sex adolescent twins (DZ & MZ), aged 15
yrs
The AFC TEDS: Measures
• Adolescents;
Child Attachment Interview (CAI), ‘Hot Topics’
task, various measures of emotional and
behavioural problems/symptoms, callousunemotional
traits,
parent and peer attachment, and parenting
practices.
• Parents;
‘Hot Topics’ task, parenting practices, twins’
emotional and behavioural problems (SDQ),
family conflict, psychiatric symptomatology.
