Strahlcharakterisierung
am Freie-Elektronen-Laser (FEL)
In Kooperation mit DESY/HASYLAB (Hamburg)
wurde ein Hartmann-Wellen-frontsensor
für weiche Röntgenstrahlung weiterentwickelt
und hinsichtlich Stabilität und Auflösung
optimiert. Im neuen Sensor kommen
eine Präzisions-Lochmaske, eine CCD-Kamera
mit 14bit-Dynamik sowie eine computer-gestützte
Motorsteuerung zum Einsatz.
Bei Tests am FLASH (Hamburg)
konnte die verbesserte Empfindlichkeit
nachgewiesen werden. An der Beamline
BL2 (λ=13nm) ergab sich gegenüber dem
alten System ein um den Faktor 3-5 geringeres
Rausch-Niveau der Wellenfront.
Zur Bestimmung der Kohärenzeigenschaften
des FEL wurden darüber hinaus
Kaustikmessungen an BL2 bei λ=27.2nm
durchgeführt, aus denen unter Voraussetzung
der Separierbarkeit des Strahls dessen
Wignerverteilung rekonstruiert werden
kann. Als Fouriertransformierte der Kohärenzfunktion
enthält sie die komplette
Strahlinformation (Profil, Wellenfront, Kohärenz
und Propagation). Die dargestellten
Ergebnisse beruhen auf der Analyse von
100 Datensätzen á 32 Profilen, aufgenommen
in einem Bereich von ±2.5 Rayleigh-
Längen vor und hinter der Strahltaille.
Beam characterization
of free-electron lasers (FEL)
In cooperation with DESY / HASYLAB
(Hamburg) a Hartmann wavefront sensor
for soft x-ray radiation was improved and
optimized with respect to stability and
sensitivity. The new sensor uses a
precision pinhole array, a CCD chip with
14bit dynamics and an automated motor
control unit. The improved performance
was demonstrated by measurements at
FLASH BL2 (λ=13nm), indicating a
decrease in rms wavefront noise level by a
factor of 3-5 compared to the older
system.
For determination of the coherence
properties of the FEL, caustic measurements
were carried out at BL2
(λ=27.2nm). Assuming a separable beam,
this provides sufficient information to
reconstruct the Wigner distribution
function of the beam. Being the fourdimensional
Fourier Transform of the
mutual coherence, it contains the
complete beam information (profile,
wavefront, coherence and propagation).
The results shown are based on the
analysis of 100 data sets of 32 profiles
each, recorded within an interval of ±2.5
Rayleigh ranges in front of and behind the
beam waist.
