CentAirStation – ein
zentrales, multimodales
Verkehrsknotenkonzept
CentAirStation – an
inner-city, multimodal
transport hub concept
sehr zentral. Darüber hinaus bieten sie Verbindungen
zu einer Vielzahl von Verkehrsträgern, zum Beispiel
Fernverkehrszügen, öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln
oder Fahrrädern. All diese Merkmale begünstigen
die Entscheidung für Bahnhöfe als günstig gelegene
Orte für einen innerstädtischen Flughafen. Allerdings
bietet ein stark bebautes und versiegeltes Stadtzentrum
nicht ausreichend Platz für den Bau eines
solchen Flughafens, was zu der Überlegung führte,
Flächen oberhalb eines Bahnhofsgebäudes und
der Gleisanlagen zu nutzen. Analysen von potenziellen
Flächen weltweit haben eine Mindestlänge von
640 Metern und eine Mindestbreite von 90 Metern
für das Flughafengebäude ergeben.
Das Prinzip der vertikalen Prozessketten auf
Flugzeugträgern diente als Blaupause für den Aufbau
des multimodalen CentAirStation-Gebäudes
oberhalb eines Bahnhofs. Dieses vertikale Layout
des Konzepts ermöglicht eine erhebliche Zeitersparnis
in den Prozessen. Mit seinen Dimensionen ist
das Konzept in der Lage, bei 30 Flugzeugbewegungen
pro Stunde und einem Tagesbetrieb von 16 Stunden
10,5 Mio. Passagiere im Jahr abzufertigen, was
die derzeitige Kapazität von Inlandsdirektflügen
von 91 Flughäfen in Nordamerika, Europa und Asien
abdeckt.
Konzept nutzt freie
Flächen über Bahnhöfen
durch seine
vertikale Bauweise.
The CentAirStation
concept utilises free
space above railway
stations with its
vertical design.
The initial objective of the CentAirStation concept is
to position airports more centralised within a city to
enable shorter links to the airport and with other
transport modes. Railway stations possess the main
property of being located in the centre of the city.
Furthermore, they provide linkages to a huge variety
of transport modes, for example long-distance trains,
public transport, or bikes. All these characteristics
encourage a decision in favour of railway stations as
well-situated places for an inner-city airport. One
constraint is the available space, which is limited to
the volume above the actual railway station and
the railway tracks, leading to a vertical arrangement
of an additional transport mode. Analyses of potential
space above railway tracks have revealed a minimum
length of 640 metres and a minimum width
of 90 metres for the airport building.
The principle of vertical process chains implemented
on aircraft carriers served as blueprint for
the setup of the multimodal CentAirStation building
on top of a conventional railway station. This vertical
layout of the concept enables a significant amount
of saving time in the processes. With its dimensions,
the concept is capable of operating 30 aircraft movements
per hour at a targeted 16-hour daily operation
resulting in 10.5 million annual passengers, which
covers the current capacity of intra-country direct
flights of 91 airports in North America, Europe, and
Asia. Thus, the concept shows a high potential to
mitigate congestion at conventional airports in order
to allocate additional capacity for growth on intercontinental
routes at hub airports.
