Unter dem Titel „mobile working spaces“ lobte 2007 die Entwicklungsgesellschaft
Zollverein einen Architekturwettbewerb
für innovative und experimentelle Bauten aus. 2008 wurden
fünf Siegerentwürfe ausgewählt, die ab Herbst 2009 sukzessive
auf Zollverein umgesetzt werden. Die feierliche Eröffnung zum
Erstbezug findet nach Fertigstellung der ersten mobile working
spaces statt. Under the title of “mobile working spaces”, Development
Company Zollverein initiated an architectural competition
for innovative and experimental buildings in 2007. In 2008, five
winning projects were selected, which are successively realised at
Zollverein from autumn 2009 on. The ceremonial opening on the
occasion of the first occupation will take place after the completion
of the first mobile working spaces.

Gesamtes Zollvereingelände entire Zollverein site
Mit einer offiziellen Feier sowie einem anschließenden öffentlichen
Fest „Glück auf 2010“ wird die Kulturhauptstadt auf der Kokerei
am 9. Januar eröffnet. Zeitgleich öffnet auch das Ruhr Museum mit
seiner Dauerausstellung erstmals seine Pforten und begrüßt am 10.
Januar mit einem Tag der offenen Tür und einem Kulturprogramm
unter dem Motto „Wir sind das Ruhrgebiet“ bei freiem Eintritt seine
Besucher. With an official ceremony and the following public
festival “Glück auf 2010” the Capital of Culture will be opened at
the coking plant on the 9th of January. Simultaneously the Ruhr
Museum and its permanent exhibition will open its gates for the
first time and welcome its visitors on the 10th of January with an
open day and a cultural programme under the motto “We are the
Ruhr area”; admission is free.

Die Sonderausstellung „Das große Spiel.
Archäologie und Politik zur Zeit des Kolonialismus“
ist eine große kulturhistorische
Ausstellung mit 800 Exponaten von über
50 Leihgebern. Sie zeigen den Einfluss der
europäischen Mächte bei den archäologischen
Entdeckungen vor allem im Orient
in der Zeit von 1860 bis 1940. The special
exhibition “The Great Gamble. Archaeology
and Politics in the times of Colonialism”
is a historic-cultural exhibition with 800
exhibits from 50 lenders. They illustrate
the influence of European powers on the
archaeological discoveries in the Orient
between 1860 and 1940.

Das Streetart-Projekt CONCRETE PLAYGROUND umfasst eine interaktive Veranstaltungsreihe
mit Ausstellungen, Messen und Modeschauen rund um die Themen Streetart
und Streetwear. Sechs bis acht Monate wird es dazu zahlreiche Events in Bochum, Dortmund
und Essen geben – mit Zollverein als Basis: In der Fördermaschinenhalle 1/2/8 auf
dem Welterbe wird ein Kommunikations- und Informationspunkt eingerichtet, der gleichzeitig
als Pop-up-Gallery, Dokumentation und Archiv dient. The CONCRETE PLAY-
GROUND street art project comprises an interactive series of events including exhibitions,
fairs and fashion shows revolving around the themes of street art and street wear. For six to
eight months the project will feature numerous events in Bochum, Dortmund and Essen –
with Zollverein as basis: A communication and information point is set up in the hauling
engine hall 1/2/8 on the World Heritage site, which simultaneously serves as pop-up gallery,
documentation and archive.
