Mai 2009. Ein wichtiger Meilenstein in der
Entwicklung des Welterbeareals ist gelegt:
Die Stiftung Zollverein übernimmt weite
Teile der Schächte XII und 1/2/8 als Eigentümerin
von der LEG Stadtentwicklung. Seit
der Stilllegung der Zeche 1986 hatte diese
im Treuhandauftrag der Landes NRW die
Fläche bewirtschaftet, die Gebäude erhalten,
das Welterbe weiterentwickelt. Jetzt führt die
Stiftung Zollverein diese Aufgaben weiter –
das Welterbe aus einer Hand bewirtschaften,
entwickeln, vermieten, bewerben.
Nahezu 100 Prozent Vermietung in
den sanierten Hallen. Zwei Gebäude sind
noch zu haben: Halle 4 am Forum Kohlenwäsche
– sie bietet sich wegen ihrer zentralen
Lage für eine Gastronomie an. Und Halle 8
mit ihren 500 Quadratmetern Nutzfläche
auf mehreren Geschossen, wird zurzeit
kernsaniert und für zukünftige Nutzer
vorbereitet.
Der Fachbereich Gestaltung der Folkwang
Hochschule plant, seinen Sitz nach Zollverein
zu verlegen. Ziel: Sanaa-Gebäude,
heute Zollverein School. Neubau in der
„designstadt zollverein“. Ein Ausblick: 600
Studierende und 50 Lehrende finden auf
dem Welterbe ein kreatives Zuhause in
inspirierender Umgebung. Für Zollverein
bedeutet der Zuwachs eine ungeheure Belebung
des Areals. Gestaltung und Design
sind auf dem Welterbe präsenter denn je.
Exciting. Zollverein offers numerous
possibilities for renters and investors to
secure their own piece of World Heritage.
May 2009. An important milestone in
the development of the World Heritage
site was laid: Zollverein Foundation took
over further parts of Shaft XII and 1/2/8
as owner from LEG Stadtentwicklung.
Since the coal mine’s closure in 1986, LEG
had administered the area, maintained the
buildings, further developed the World
Heritage site as trustee by order of North
Rhine-Westphalia. Now Zollverein Foundation
accepted this responsibility to administer,
develop, rent out, and promote
the World Heritage site from a single source.
Shaft XII. Core of the new Zollverein.
Almost 100 percent of refurbished halls
are rented out. Two buildings are still avail-
able: Hall 4 at Forum Coal Washing Plant –
due to its central location it lends itself for
a gastronomic use. And Hall 8 with a 500-
square metre effective floor space on several
levels, is at present comprehensively
refurbished and prepared for future users.
The design faculty of Folkwang Hochschule
plans to relocate their headquarters
to Zollverein. Destination: Sanaa building,
today: Zollverein School. New build
in “designstadt zollverein”. Prospect: 600
students and 50 teachers find a creative
Industrial atmosphere and loft character: Centrally located at Ehrenhof
and the Forum Coal Washing Plant, Hall 4 offers plenty of space and high
ceilings. On the Shaft XII area, it is the last hall to be refurbished.
