Laboranova
Die Zukunftsfähigkeit Europas wird in
Anbetracht wirtschaftlich und technisch
aufsteigender Schwellenländer
von der Fähigkeit zur Innovationsgenerierung
abhängen. Diese gilt es effizienter
zu gestalten, da heute 85 %
der Entwicklungszeit in Güter investiert
wird, die keine Marktreife erlangen.
Gleichzeitig sind nur 18 % der Innovationen,
die auf den Markt gelangen,
erfolgreich.
Das Projekt Laboranova (Collaboration
Environment for Strategic Innovation)
fokussiert auf die frühe Phase
des Innovationsprozesses. Laboranova
zielt darauf ab, existierende soziotechnische,
kollaborative Infrastrukturen
zur systematischen Generierung,
gemeinsamen Nutzung und
Evaluierung von Ideen zu unterstützen.
Das Projekt Laboranova beinhaltet
die Entwicklung und Bewertung von
Modellen und Werkzeugen in drei für
die frühe Innovationsphase spezifischen
Bereichen: Ideengenerierung
(Ideation), Verbindungen im Sinne
von Kontakten sowie zwischen Wissensobjekten
(Connection) und Evaluierung
von Ideen (Evaluation).
Laboranova adressiert die wahren
Bedürfnisse von Innovatoren. Der Anforderungskatalog
für die Werkzeuge
und Modelle des Projektes basiert auf
der Beobachtung und Analyse von
Arbeitsprozessen der Innovationsakteure.
In der frühen Innovationsphase wird
ohne die Limitierung durch spezialisierte
IT Werkzeuge gearbeitet. Der
Innovator arbeitet in teils wiederkehrenden
Routinen, die aus Einzelschritten
bedarfsgerecht verknüpft
werden. Zur Repräsentation und
Kommunikation werden physische
Objekte und handelsübliche Office-
Anwendungen genutzt.
Um diese Routineanforderungen zu
erfüllen, wird in Laboranova ein internetbasierter
Baukasten von IT
Werkzeugen entwickelt, welcher
durch die Anwender individuell angepasst
werden kann. Die Laboranova
Werkzeuge unterstützen die
Innovatoren beispielsweise bei der
Identifikation der für ein Projekt richtigen
Personen durch die Anwendung
von Spielen. Sie bieten ferner
videobasierte Repräsentation von
Ideen und Personen an, zeigen die
Verbindung zwischen den Personen,
stellen die Basis für kollaboratives
Brainstorming her und helfen bei
der Generierung von Ideen durch
Spiele. Schließlich können die entwickelten
Ideen innerhalb eines börsenähnlichen
Marktplatzes evaluiert
werden.
Die in den Projektbereichen „Ideation“,
„Connection“ und „Evaluation“
entwickelten IT Werkzeuge greifen
auf eine gemeinsame Datenbasis,
das „Idea Repository“, zurück. Die
Nutzung der gemeinsamen Datenbasis
sorgt für die Konsistenz der
Informationen innerhalb des Tool-
sets und ermöglicht so die durchgängige
Unterstützung der Ideengenerierung.
Die verschiedenen Werkzeuge werden
derzeit im universitären und industriellen
Umfeld sowie in Living
Labs eingesetzt und getestet. Die
zukünftigen Aufgaben der Entwicklungen
in Laboranova liegen in der
Anbindung aller Werkzeuge an das
„Idea Repository“.

Collaboration Environment for Strategic Innovation
As new economies emerge, Europe's
future economic prosperty depends on
the ability to generate innovations. Since
85% of the development time is invested
in goods which never reach marketability
and only 18% of the innovations
are economically successful, the innovation
processes must become more efficient.
The project Laboranova (Collaboration
Environment for Strategic Innovation) focusses
on the early stage of innovation
(see ). Laboranova aims to support existing
socio-technological and collaborative
infrastructures for the systematic generation,
utilization and evaluation of innovative
ideas.
Laboranova's concept is the research,
development and evaluation of models
and tools in three innovation related
areas. These include idea generation
(ideation), the connection of contacts
(connection) and knowledge objects
and idea evaluation (evaluation).
The methods and tools developed by
Laboranova will support open innovation
processes, especially in Living Labs (in
context of EnoLL - European Network of
Living Labs).
Laboranova is an EU-Commission-funded
integrated project with 20 project
partners from 9 different EU countries.
BIBA coordinates the project and develops
IT tools with game methods to support
idea generation and the development
process.
Laboranova will support the innovator's
true needs. The catalogue of requirements
for the tools and models of the
project is based on the observation and
anlysis of working processes of innovation
actors.
At this early stage of innovation no limitation
of specialized IT-tools are used.
Here, the innovator works with a recurring
routine, tailor-made from single work
steps. Both tangible objects and standard
Office application are used for representation
and communication.
To fulfill the routine requirements, an Internet
based set of IT-tools is developed
in Laboranova. The innovator(s) can adjust
this Internet based set according to
their requirements.
For example, it supports the innovators in
finding suitable persons for a project
through game mechanisms. Furthermore,
it offers a video based representation
of persons and ideas, present
connections between persons and
ideas, it provides a foundation for collaborative
brainstorming or it supports the
idea generating process with game
techniques. Finally, it evaluates ideas
through a stock-market-like marketplace.
The IT-tools which are developed in the
„Ideation“, „Connection“ und „Evaluation“
area resort to a common data basis –
the „Idea Repository“. The utilization of a
common data base creates consistent
information within the Laboranova project
and enables the support of the idea
generation across all phases. Currently,
the tools are used and tested in academic
and industrial environments as well
as in Living Labs. The future tasks of Laboranova's
development activities focus on
the connection of all tools to the “Idea
Repository”.
