Am Beispiel der „Nicht-finiten Prädikationskonstruktion“ 

(„Ich und aufgeben?“) wird der Versuch 

unternommen, ausgehend vom alltagssprachlichen 

Gebrauch einer grammatischen Konstruktion zu 

einem Modell ihrer Repräsentation im Sprachgebrauchswissen 

zu gelangen. Einige Charakteristika 

der „Nicht-finiten Prädikationskonstruktion“ 

werden dabei auch sprachvergleichend und im 

Hinblick auf den Problembereich Mündlichkeit und 

Schriftlichkeit diskutiert. Im Ergebnis wird dafür 

plädiert, Konstruktionen als Phänomene alltäglicher 

kommunikativer Praxis zu begreifen.

the everyday use of grammatical construction to its

Terms and terminologies are central topics of terminology 

research, yet strategies of terminologization 

- that is, the introduction of terminological systems

favor of a Merge-based syntax, which dispenses 

with the notion of ‘projection.’ This reduced

Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, durch eine konstruktionsgrammatische

zwischen Verb und Konstruktion wird dabei framesemantisch 

erklärt. Das System beruht auf flexiblen

Approximately fifty percent of the form and the 

meaning of transparent German particle verbs with 

“an” can be deduced from the minimal semantic 

argument structure of the verb and particle. 

The aim of this study is to create a format for 

understanding the remaining fifty percent using 

construction grammar analysis. The study employs 

frame semantics to explain the compositionality of 

the verb and the construction. The system is based 

on a flexible schema-instance relationship, where

Die Frage nach einer Funktion der grammatischen 

Kategorie Genus ist eine der umstrittensten 

der Linguistik. Die Arbeit geht der Frage nach, 

inwieweit zwischen Suffigierung und Genus eine 

diachron etablierte und kerngrammatisch motivierte 

Beziehung besteht, die unter dem Aspekt nominaler 

Quantifikation gefasst werden kann. Demnach dient 

die suffixale Wortbildung des Neuhochdeutschen 

weniger der Transposition und Modifikation als 

vielmehr der Bereitstellung overt markierter, quantifizierter 

Substantive. 

The function of the grammatical category of gender 

is one of the most controversial issues in linguistics. 

This study draws to inquire about the extent to 

which there is a diachronically established relationship 

motivated by core grammatical structure between 

gender and suffixation that can be described 

in terms of nominal quantification . According to 

this view, word formation by means of suffixes in 

New High German serves less for transposition and 

modification, and more for the creation of overtly 

marked, quantifiable nouns.

doppelter Perfektbildungen aus acht Jahrhunderten, 

das sowohl die geschriebene Sprache (Distanzdimension) 

als auch die gesprochene Sprache 

(Nähedimension) berücksichtigt. Ausgehend von 

den vorgefundenen empirischen Daten widmet 

sich die Arbeit insbesondere der Frage nach der 

Herausbildung, dem diachronen Gebrauch und der 

diachronen Bedeutung der doppelten Perfektbildungen. 

This book is devoted to double forms of the perfect 

tense in the German language. The study is based 

on an extensive corpus of double formations of the 

perfect tense as they have been used over the past 

eight centuries. This compilation takes into account 

both written language (the dimension of distance) 

and spoken language (the dimension of proximity). 

On the basis of the collected empirical data, 

the study addresses specific questions about the 

structure, diachronic use, and diachronic meaning 

of double-perfect tense formations.

The written genre of the religious pamphlet stands 

out as a deeply characteristic form of public communication 

in the early modern period, not least on 

account of its inseparable combination of language 

and images. This study undertakes an analysis of 

semiotically complex religious pamphlets from the 

late 16th century, thereby making a contribution to 

research in linguistic history that is culturally oriented. 

In the process, it illustrates the opportunities 

for using frame semantics to analyze both verbal 

and visual texts.

junger türkischstämmiger Frauen 

und Männer. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass prosodische 

Kategorien wie Rhythmus und Intonation eine 

wichtige Rolle als Substrateinflüsse spielen. Dabei 

bleibt es jedoch nicht beim einfachen Transfer, 

sondern es entstehen neue, regelgeleitete Formen, 

die als Ressourcen für besondere Aufgaben im 

Gespräch fungieren. 

This study draws on the theory and methodology 

of interactional linguistics to examine the effects 

of multilingualism on the syntax and prosody of 

young Germans of Turkish extraction in everyday 

conversation. The study concludes that prosodic 

categories such as rhythm and intonation are 

influential substrate elements. Yet the influence of 

Turkish is not one of mere transfer. New, rule-based 

forms have arisen that serve as resources for specific 

tasks in conversation.

auch mit den Händen. Und nicht nur das: In diesem 

Buch wird dafür argumentiert, dass redebegleitende 

Gesten in den Gegenstandsbereich einer grammatischen 

Beschreibung des Deutschen gehören. Für 

den Bereich der Syntax wird exemplarisch gezeigt, 

dass Gesten erstens typisierbar und semantisierbar 

sind, dass ihnen zweitens unabhängig von der 

Lautsprache Konstituentenstrukturen zugewiesen 

werden können, die über die Eigenschaft der 

Rekursivität verfügen, und dass sie drittens in 

lautsprachlichen Nominalgruppen als Attribut 

fungieren können. 

We speak not only with our mouths, but also with 

our hands. And that is not all: this book advances 

the argument that the gestures which accompany 

speech are also part of the material to be considered 

in a grammatical description of German. Using 

exemplars from the field of syntax, the study 

demonstrates that gestures can be typologised 

and semanticised, that constituent structures can 

be assigned to them which display the quality of 

recursivity, and that they can function as attributes 

in nominal groups in spoken language.

diesem Hintergrund zeigt die vorliegende Studie 

die Funktion des Sportberichts für den Sport als 

Bedingung seiner Möglichkeit. Der Sportbericht 

erzählt die Geschichten, deretwegen es den Sport 

überhaupt gibt. Besonders im massenmedial 

vermittelten Spitzensport entstehen dann lehrreiche, 

amüsante oder ergreifende Schauspiele auf den 

Bühnen physischer und psychischer Leistung. 

It is only through communication that physical 

activity becomes sport. Sport as an activity 

becomes a meaningful event through the interplay 

of dramaturgical rules and rhetorical patterns. 

Working from this point of departure, this study 

reveals how the sports report serves to realize the 

possibilities of sport. The sports report tells stories, 

and these stories are the actual reason why sports 

exist. Particularly in elite sports communicated by 

mass media, this leads to illuminating, amusing, or 

moving dramas in the arena of physical and mental 

achievement.

This study is a significant addition to our understanding 

of the structures of lyric poetry in the 

Middle Ages. The book discusses the Tagelied 

and the until recently often overlooked Romanian 

dream poem, focusing on erotic variants and their 

poetic treatment. This anthology of Romance alba 

and somni poetry also includes the verse of troubadours 

and trouvères, Galician-Portuguese cantigas, 

Middle Latin selections, and texts from the scuola

als Erscheinungsform des Karnevalsdiskurses à 

la Bachtin zu deuten versucht. Doch wie steht es 

mit dem Teil von Quevedos satirisch-burlesker 

Versdichtung, der einer solchen Lesart widerstrebt 

und sich vor allem durch ausgeprägte Aggressivität 

und Obszönität charakterisiert? Diesem Aspekt in 

Quevedos Werk geht Frank Savelsberg in seiner 

Untersuchung nach und legt dabei den Schwerpunkt 

auf die persönlichen Invektiven Quevedos 

gegen seinen eine Generation älteren Dichterkollegen 

Góngora. 

Francisco de Quevedo’s satirical poetry is commonly 

viewed as lewd and grotesquely comical, a manifestation 

of what Bakhtin called the Carnivalesque. 

But not all of de Quevedo’s satirical poetry fits this 

interpretation. In this study the author investigates

papel importante en la estructura de motivación de 

los marcadores del discurso. El concepto de polifuncionalidad 

carece de una teorización adecuada 

y de un análisis sistemático de su interacción con 

la polisemia. En este sentido, se analizarán signos 

discursivos con base adjetival en datos orales del 

español chileno. Se comprueba que la polifuncionalidad 

actúa como motor no solo de la polisemia, 

sino también de la gramaticalización, enfocada 

desde sus relaciones dialécticas con las tradiciones 

oral y escrita.

in the motivational structure of discourse 

markers. In this study the author investigates adjectival 

units that contribute to discourse formation 

in the spoken Spanish of Chile. The author shows 

that polyfunctionality drives not only polysemy but

the synchronic description of modern-day French 

in terms of the properties that distinguish familiar 

from formal language – pragmatically, syntactically,
