The JCC of Syracuse's Summer Camp offers programs for infants, preschoolers, school-age children and teens. Camp runs June 26 - August 18, 2017.

315-445-2360 | www.jccsyr.org JCC Camp Rishon School-Age Camps Children entering grades 1–6 Nitzanim Day Camp Fun-filled basic summer camp Offered weeks 1–8 Price: $156 member/$203 non-member For children entering grades 1 & up • Use the registration form on page 9 Think of our Nitzanim Day Camp as your basic, all around summer day camp experience. It offers a little something for everyone and is ideally suited for first-time campers and younger campers who want to experience an exciting variety of activities. It is many of the specialty camps all rolled into one with an emphasis on weekly themes. Specialists lead activities in arts and crafts, sports and games, Israeli culture with a visiting Israeli scout counselor, drama and nature. Daily Red Cross instructional and recreational swimming and a weekly Shabbat celebration round out some of Nitzanim’s activities. Weekly field trips take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays depending on the week. One day each week is supplemented with a field day with themed activities. Fridays are known as “Super Fridays” where campers create their own schedules and choose between traditional activities (sports, arts) and alternative activities (slip-and-slide, scavenger hunts, wacky water fun and more). Choose from arts, sports, nature, gymnastics, rocketry and more! Descriptions for all of our Specialty Camps start below. In addition to each camp’s special focus area, campers participate in daily Red Cross swim instruction and recreational swimming. Some swim times may be limited due to schedules and possible travel times. A typical Specialty Camp day includes 30 minutes of instructional swim, 45 minutes of recreational swimming and 2–4 hours of dedicated time in the specialty activity. After registering, you will receive detailed camp-specific information. Level A – $215 mem./$276 non-mem. Level C – $187 mem./$245 non-mem. 3D Art with Mark Raush • Week 7: August 7–11 • For children entering grades 1 & up • Price Level: C Sculpt with various materials to create threedimensional works of art. Use clay, wood, paper, and more, or try multi-media construction! Enrollment: Minimum of 8 and maximum of 24 campers. All Sports Café • Week 1: June 26–30 • Week 8: August 14–18 • For children entering grades 1 & up • Price Level: C Campers will have a menu of sport options every day including tennis, basketball, hockey, soccer, baseball, and more. Enrollment: Minimum of 8 and maximum of 24 campers. Baseball with Le Moyne College • Week 5: July 24–28 • For children entering grades 1 & up • Price Level: B Skill development, instruction, and games with Le Moyne College assistant coach Chris Murphy. Please register according to skill level. Requirements: Campers should come equipped with baseball gloves. Enrollment: Minimum of 8 and maximum of 24 campers. So-Long Summer Vacation Camp • Aug. 21 – Sept. 1 Registration begins in July! Basketball with Mac’s Hoop Stars • Beginner Players Week 2: July 3–7 (not 7/4) • Advanced Players Week 6: July 31 – August 4 • Price Level: B Learn the fundamentals of one of America’s favorite sports! Coach Bob McKenney coordinates this camp with drills and games using regulation and lowered rims. Please register according to skill level. Enrollment: Minimum of 8 and maximum of 24 campers. Bowling at Bowl-Mor Lanes • Week 3: July 10–14 • For children entering grades 1 & up • Price Level: A Learn bowling skills and techniques as part of Camp Rishon’s “bowling team.” Bowling shoes provided. Rock and Bowl on Friday! Campers will have the option to purchase a bowling ball from the pro shop at a discounted rate. Enrollment: Minimum of 10 and maximum of 24 campers. Boys Lacrosse with Le Moyne College • Week 4: July 17–21 • For children entering grades 1 & up • Price Level: B Le Moyne coaches will lead the instruction and focus on fine-tuning your lacrosse skills. All levels welcome. Requirements: Campers must bring a lacrosse stick and helmet/face mask —no exceptions! Enrollment: Minimum of 8 and a maximum of 24 campers. > Continued on page 7

Programs are built around proprietary model plans designed by engineers and architects. Enrollment: Minimum of 8 and a maximum of 24 campers. Ceramics with Mark Raush • Week 4: July 17–21 • Week 6: July 31 – August 4 • For children entering grades 1 & up • Price Level: B Use clay and glaze to create pots, vases, bowls and more as you learn the art of ceramics. Fire your work in the kiln. Fired pieces may not be ready to take home by the end of the week, but they’ll look beautiful for a long time! Enrollment: Minimum of 8 and maximum of 24 campers. Circus Camp with the National Circus Project • Week 4: July 17–21 • For children entering grades 1 & up • Price Level: Premium Specialty A circus show by professional artists/instructors, with hands-on workshops on feather balancing, juggling, plate spinning, stilt walking and much more. Campers will perform in a showcase for their parents, the entire Camp Rishon family and the JCC on Friday afternoon. Enrollment: Maximum of 25 campers. Dance Camp • Week 2: July 3–7 (not 7/4) • Week 4: July 17–21 • For children entering grades 1 & up • Price Level: C We’re excited to spend a week teaching different moves and styles, with a focus on hip-hop dancing. No formal dance training or dance apparel is needed. Come ready to learn and have a great time. Parents and friends can watch their campers perform on the last day of the camp. Enrollment: Minimum of 8 and maximum of 24 campers. Day Tripper • Week 2: July 3–7 (not 7/4) • For children entering grades 4 & up • Price Level: B Campers take a different field trip every day! This year, field trips will include swimming, amusements, sports, and more! Enrollment: Minimum of 12 and maximum of 20 campers. Fantastic Figures and Superheroes with Mark Raush • Week 8: August 14–18 • For children entering grades 1 & up • Price Level: C Go beyond stick figures and learn the skills needed to draw the human body. Create people, real or imaginary, using pencils, paint, or clay. Use these new skills to create your very own comic book complete with your own unique superheroes! Enrollment: Minimum of 8 and maximum of 24 campers. Fencing with the Syracuse Musketeers Daily field trips to the Syracuse Musketeers! • Week 4: July 17–21 • For children entering grades 3 & up • Price Level: B Join the professionals at the Syracuse Musketeers to learn this exciting Olympic sport! Through drills and games campers will learn fencing skills, including proper footwork, blade techniques, coordination, agility and speed. At the end of the week, participate in a fencing match with your fellow campers. All special equipment will be provided. Requirements: Campers need to wear close-toed shoes and comfortable clothing. Enrollment: Minimum of 8 and maximum of 15 campers. Fishing with Bill Wade Daily field trips to local fishing spots! • Week 6: July 31 – August 4 • For children entering grades 2 & up • Price Level: B Enjoy fishing at different locations and get educated on the subject by our own Bill Wade. Each camper will be provided with a fishing rod, which they get to keep. Requirements: Campers need to wear close-toed shoes and eyewear. Enrollment: Minimum of 8 and maximum of 24 campers. Gaming Camp • Week 1: June 26–30 • For children entering grades 2 & up • Price Level: C Spend the week playing all different types of games: chess, billiards, checkers, speed stacks, card games, video games and more! Campers are welcome to bring a game from home to share and teach their friends. Compete against one another and play for prizes.
