SCHOLARSHIP FUND
It's that time of the year to apply for some college financial support from TKE
through the Betty and Jerry Singer Scholarship Fund.
DEADLINE IS MAY 1, 2008
We would like to take this opportunity to share the vision established for the Fund with everyone at TKE
and explain the application and award process. The vision is comprised of four elements.
1. The purpose of the Betty and Jerry Singer Scholarship Fund is to encourage service, involvement and
leadership in TKE, especially KEFTY, the senior youth group.
2. Through private donations, the fund will eventually become an endowed (self-perpetuating) fund. As
such, it would have sufficient principal and as a result, the investment interest and dividends would
fund yearly scholarship awards. This year the fund will provide a $1,000 scholarship. Once
the fund becomes endowed and generates sufficient income, we hope that this amount can be
increased to $2,000 or several awards of $1,000.
3. The award will be provided to an individual with the following general qualifications:
A. A high school senior who has been accepted to a college or university.
B. A current member of TKE and KEFTY.
C. Has performed exceptional service, involvement, and leadership to TKE
during high school years (grades 9 - 12).
4. The scholarship is merit based. This means that everyone can apply regardless of their parent’s
financial situation. The scholarship application is available NOW electronically by emailing Blake
Singer at blakesinger@hotmail.com. You can complete it using MS Word but an electronic form of the
required signatures will NOT be accepted.
Again, candidates must submit their completed applications in Blake Singer’s mailbox at the TKE office on
or before May 1, 2008.
The Scholarship Fund Committee will review the applications and select the recipient. The winner will be
presented the award at the annual TKE meeting in May.
