VTEC graduates
shine at Thiess
Following the completion of
the Roebourne 10 week VTEC
program late last year, three
trainees were mobilised to
Solomon on 7th February
2012 and have commenced
further plant operator
and safety training with
contracting company Thiess.
Thiess Trainer Dave Peacock
is extremely happy with
the calibre of the trainees
and believes that this latest
group has demonstrated
excellent leadership skills.
He is keen to progress their

training to include dump
truck, graders, loaders, rollers
and excavators.

Mogridge said, “All trainees
are in very high spirits and
are thoroughly enjoying their
new digs (pardon the pun)
and have been busy meeting
new and old friends in their
spare time.”

New
Manager
for VTEC
Grant has hit the ground running
The VTEC crew celebrated
Christmas early last year with
the appointment of their new
manager Grant Bobongie in
early December.
Grant joins VTEC from Downer
EDI where he was employed as
the National Manager based
in Perth. He worked on a joint
initiative with VTEC placing
trainees from Fitzroy Crossing
at Christmas Creek.
Although originally from
Queensland, Grant has spent
the majority of his life in
Western Australia and most
of his career working with
Indigenous people in the
resources sector.
“Grant’s appointment signals
the start of an exciting time
for the company as he will
help develop and expand
Indigenous pre-employment
training programs in the
Pilbara,” said Group Manager
Land Access Alexa Morcombe.
