April 15, 1976 - The Honorable J. William Middendorf II, Secretary of the Navy, visits NAS
Jacksonville.
May 6, 1976 - New uniform center opened by the Navy Exchange.
May 14, 1976 – Adm. James Holloway III, Chief of Naval Operations, visits NAS Jacksonville and
NS Mayport.
May 27, 1976 - Adm. Albert Charles Joire-Noulens, Chief of Staff of the French Navy, visits NAS
Jacksonville and receives ASW briefings by VP-45.
June 3, 1976 - NAS Jacksonville Trailer Park opens.
June 4, 1976 - HS-9 re-established under Helicopter Antisubmarine Wing One at NAS
Jacksonville.
June 20, 1976 - HC-2's Det 3 in the Mediterranean participates in the evacuation of American
citizens and other non-combatants from Beirut, Lebanon.
July 6, 1976 - Groundbreaking ceremonies held for the $1.9 million Armed Forces Reserve Center
to be constructed at NAS Jacksonville.
July 22, 1976 - Groundbreaking ceremonies held for the new $472,478 aircraft fire and rescue
station to be built at NAS Jacksonville.
Sept. 28, 1976 - Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld visits NAS Jacksonville.
Nov. 6-7, 1976 - Blue Angels perform at Cecil Field.
March 31, 1977 - M-A-S-H star Mike Farrell, "B. J. Hunnicutt," visits Naval Regional Medical
Center.
April 1977 - This month the Naval Air Rework Facility (NARF) celebrates the tenth anniversary of
its commissioning as a separate command.
April 1, 1977 - During special dedication ceremonies, the Jacksonville Operating Area
Coordination Center (JOACC) at NAS Jacksonville becomes the Fleet Area Control and
Surveillance Facility (FASFAC).
April 11, 1977 – Capt. W. D. Bodensteiner, commanding officer NAS Jacksonville, officially opens
the station's new Consolidated Package Store.
April 13, 1977 - The first female line officer to be promoted to flag rank, Rear Adm. Fran McKee,
