It is generally known that the sea swell can cause significant deformation of the hull and pressure surges in system
pipelines whilst the ship is at sea. This leads to a constant strain on the piping systems. Rigid pipe connections
such as flanges or welded collars transfer strains directly to other components in the form of stress. Compensators
therefore become necessary.
