Varsity Squash Team Wins InterAc<br />
Title, MASA Title, and Finishes 3rd<br />
at Nationals<br />
The Varsity Squash Team wrapped up a remarkable season<br />
by capturing 3rd place at the National Squash High <strong>School</strong><br />
Championships held at Yale University. The team’s overall season<br />
record was an outstanding 16-1 with their only loss occurring<br />
in the National Semi-Finals to 2nd place finisher Deerfield<br />
Academy. Prior to Nationals, the team captured the Mid Atlantic<br />
Squash Championship (MASA) Title, the school’s first. In the<br />
final match, <strong>Baldwin</strong> defeated host Episcopal Academy 9-0 after<br />
beating Lawrenceville 6-3 in the semi-finals. Led by Head Coach<br />
and <strong>Baldwin</strong> Squash Pro, Karen Kronemeyer, the team also won<br />
the InterAc title for the second consecutive year. The team is also<br />
coached by Bruce Kelly, Associate Coach and Brooks Russell,<br />
Assistant Coach. Two of the team’s seniors will continue their<br />
squash careers in college: Alisha Maity at Columbia University and<br />
Caroline Sawin at Williams College.<br />
Kristine Rojo ’14<br />
Wins InterAc Tennis Title<br />
Kristine Rojo earned the gold medal<br />
at #1 singles at the InterAc Tennis<br />
Tournament. A freshman, Kristine went<br />
undefeated all season. She is nationally<br />
ranked and currently holds a #4 ranking<br />
in Pennsylvania among her peers.<br />
Swimmer Sensation Valerie Yoshimura ‘15 Holds Five<br />
<strong>School</strong> Records<br />
Varsity swimmer and Grade VIII student Valerie Yoshimura is<br />
the current school record holder in five events (of eleven): 50<br />
yard freestyle, 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 100 backstroke and<br />
200 freestyle relay, all previously held by her sister, Stephanie ’04.<br />
This season, Valerie earned a USA Swimming national ranking<br />
in the 200 yard Individual Medley<br />
for 13-14-year old girls. In the<br />
2009-2010 season, Valerie achieved<br />
a Top Ten USA Swimming national<br />
ranking in four events (50 yard<br />
freestyle, 100 yard freestyle, 100<br />
yard individual medley, and 200<br />
yard individual medley) in the<br />
12-year old girls division. She is a<br />
Junior Olympic Champion in five<br />
events and was a finalist in the 2010<br />
Eastern Championships.<br />

VARSITY TENNIS<br />
Varsity Tennis Wins First-Ever InterAc Title<br />
Varsity Tennis had a banner year by capturing the InterAc Title and earning the<br />
most medals at the annual InterAc Tennis Tournament. It is the team’s first title<br />
since the inception of the InterAc League in 1983. The win completed <strong>Baldwin</strong>’s<br />
season with an undefeated overall record of 11-0 and 6-0 in the league. The<br />
team was led by senior co-captains Alisha Maity and Lauren Rhodes, and<br />

BASKETBALL<br />
Sloan Warren ‘11 Joins<br />
Prestigious 1,000 Point Club<br />
Sloan Warren scored her 1,000th<br />
career basketball point vs. <strong>Spring</strong>side<br />
<strong>School</strong> in January, joining Emma<br />
Hamm ‘07 and Gina Powers ‘96<br />
in <strong>Baldwin</strong>’s elite 1,000 Point<br />
Club. A varsity player since Grade<br />
VIII, Sloan has led the Bears this<br />
season in points, rebounds and<br />
steals. She scored a career-high<br />
of 31 points in the Bears’ victory<br />
over Villa Victoria Academy. This<br />
year, Sloan was named All InterAc<br />
Honorable Mention and All Main<br />
Line Honorable Mention.
