RESEARCH<br />
The <strong>School</strong> will continue to initiate and support leading-edge research across the diverse<br />
areas <strong>of</strong> staff expertise with a view to consolidating and enhancing its position as a leading<br />
national and international centre <strong>of</strong> research excellence. The following specific measures<br />
are planned to further these aims:<br />

additional informational and research careers support for new members <strong>of</strong> staff<br />
further enhancement <strong>of</strong> the existing research advisor scheme<br />
exploration <strong>of</strong> new fields <strong>of</strong> research <strong>of</strong> national and international significance<br />
hosting and contributing to conference and research engagement events <strong>of</strong> local,<br />
national and international significance<br />
a pro-active recruitment and staff-retention strategy to secure the best academic<br />
and research support staff for the <strong>School</strong>.<br />
Internationally recognised academic experts will also continue to be invited to visit<br />
UQ to participate in and contribute to the intellectual life <strong>of</strong> the <strong>School</strong>. Distinguished<br />
Visiting Fellows for 2010 include Pr<strong>of</strong>essor William Lucy, <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Manchester, Dr<br />
Paul Mitchell, Kings College, London and Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Leonard Rotman, <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
Windsor, Canada. The highly successful Research Seminar Series and Current Legal<br />
Issues seminars will also continue into 2010 as part <strong>of</strong> the <strong>School</strong>’s overall engagement<br />
strategy.<br />
