Graeme Orr<br />

Griff.<br />

Dr Orr’s research expertise is the law <strong>of</strong><br />

politics, in particular electoral law, and he<br />

undertakes extensive media commentary,<br />

consultancy and pro bono work in this<br />

area. He has also published extensively<br />

in electoral bribery, labour law, the law <strong>of</strong><br />

negligence and on issues <strong>of</strong> language and<br />

law. Formerly an Associate in the Federal<br />

Court <strong>of</strong> Australia, Dr Orr was an Associate<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essor at Griffith <strong>University</strong> <strong>Law</strong> <strong>School</strong>,<br />

where he taught for over 13 years and was<br />

admitted as a solicitor (<strong>Queensland</strong>).<br />

Kerrie Sadiq<br />

Deakin<br />

Dr Sadiq is a member <strong>of</strong> the commercial<br />

law group at the <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Law</strong> and a<br />

Fellow <strong>of</strong> the Taxation <strong>Law</strong> and Policy<br />

Research Institute, Monash <strong>University</strong>.<br />

She is also a Barrister, Supreme Court <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Queensland</strong> and a Fellow <strong>of</strong> the Taxation<br />

Institute <strong>of</strong> Australia where she sits on<br />

the International Subcommittee and the<br />

Education, Examinations, and Quality<br />

Assurance Board. In 2007 and 2008<br />

she was President <strong>of</strong> the Australasian<br />

Tax Teachers Association. Prior to<br />

joining UQ, Dr Sadiq worked for a big<br />

four chartered accounting firm and as a<br />

Judges Associate in the Supreme Court<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>Queensland</strong>. She teaches taxation law<br />

at both undergraduate and postgraduate<br />

levels and principally researches in<br />

international taxation, tax expenditures and<br />

capital gains tax.<br />

Andreas Schloenhardt<br />

LLB, PhD Adel.<br />

Prior to his position at the <strong>TC</strong> <strong>Beirne</strong><br />

<strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Law</strong>, Dr Schloenhardt was a<br />

lecturer at The <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Adelaide <strong>Law</strong><br />

<strong>School</strong> and also taught at universities in<br />

Townsville (Qld), Darwin (NT), Bangkok<br />

(Thailand), Port Vila (Vanuatu), Suva (Fiji),<br />

and Port Moresby (PNG). Since 2007<br />

he has been an Adjunct Pr<strong>of</strong>essor at the<br />

Monterey Institute <strong>of</strong> International Studies<br />

in California, and in 2008 and 2009 was<br />

a Visiting Pr<strong>of</strong>essor at The <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

British Columbia Centre <strong>of</strong> International<br />

Relations in Vancouver, Canada.<br />

Dr Schloenhardt’s principal areas <strong>of</strong><br />

research include criminal law, organised<br />

crime, narcotrafficking, human smuggling<br />

and trafficking, terrorism, international<br />

criminal law, and immigration and refugee<br />

law.<br />

Senior Lecturers<br />

Peter Billings<br />

LLB S’ton, PhD S’ton<br />

Dr Billings joined the <strong>TC</strong> <strong>Beirne</strong> <strong>School</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>Law</strong> in November 2007 having<br />

taught law previously at the <strong>University</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> Southampton and <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> the<br />

West <strong>of</strong> England, Bristol. His primary<br />

research interests are in the areas <strong>of</strong> public<br />

law, the law relating to refugees, social<br />

welfare and indigenous rights and he has<br />

published over a dozen journal articles<br />

in these areas. Dr Billings is a Director <strong>of</strong><br />

the UQ Pro Bono Centre and mentor for<br />

the administrative law moot teams which<br />

represent UQ in the annual Administrative<br />

Appeals Tribunal competition.<br />

Ann Black<br />

BA Qld., LLB(Hons) Qld., BSocWk Qld., LLM<br />

Qld., SJD Bond<br />

Dr Black currently teaches criminal law,<br />

introduction to islamic law and asian<br />

legal systems. She completed an SJD on<br />

dispute resolution in Brunei Darussalam.<br />

Her research interests include the law<br />

and legal culture <strong>of</strong> Asia, criminal law,<br />

alternative dispute resolution and legal<br />

education. Dr Black is the <strong>School</strong>’s<br />

Director <strong>of</strong> the JD program.<br />

Anthony Cassimatis<br />

BA Qld., LLB(Hons) Qld., LLM Camb., PhD Qld.<br />

Dr Cassimatis teaches administrative law<br />

and public international law and is the<br />

Executive Director (International <strong>Law</strong>) <strong>of</strong><br />

the Centre for Public, International and<br />

Comparative <strong>Law</strong>. He was academic<br />

coordinator <strong>of</strong> teams representing the <strong>Law</strong><br />

<strong>School</strong> in the Philip C Jessup International<br />

<strong>Law</strong> Moot Court Competition from 1996<br />

to 2005. The 2005 UQ Jessup team<br />

won the Jessup World Championship in<br />

Washington DC. His research interests<br />

include international law, administrative law<br />

and public law.<br />

Jonathan Crowe<br />

BA(Hons) Qld., LLB Qld., PhD Qld.<br />

Dr Crowe teaches legal theory,<br />

constitutional law and international<br />

humanitarian law. His research examines<br />

the theoretical relationship between law<br />

and ethics, looking particularly at the<br />

nature and foundations <strong>of</strong> legal obligation<br />

and the role <strong>of</strong> ethics in legal reasoning.<br />
