Imag<strong>in</strong>g <strong>techniques</strong> are now commonly<br />
used <strong>in</strong> cultural heritage object analysis.<br />
The study <strong>of</strong> works <strong>of</strong> art requires usually<br />
<strong>the</strong>se <strong>techniques</strong> to be non-destructive<br />
and non-<strong>in</strong>vasive, and frequently to<br />
be adapted <strong>in</strong> order to perform analysis<br />
<strong>in</strong> situ.<br />
Ever s<strong>in</strong>ce our laboratory developed<br />
portable EDXRF and UV-Vis-NIR coupled<br />
spectrometers, specially designed for<br />
fieldwork studies, all <strong>the</strong> three <strong>techniques</strong><br />
have been applied simultaneously. The<br />
EDXRF results obta<strong>in</strong>ed, though satisfactory,<br />
may still be improved by elaborat<strong>in</strong>g<br />
2D elemental maps.<br />
Recent developments on a new position<strong>in</strong>g<br />
system have now allowed to perform<br />
this 2D elemental mapp<strong>in</strong>gs with our<br />
equipment, <strong>the</strong> control <strong>of</strong> which is entirely<br />
carried out through a laptop computer<br />
runn<strong>in</strong>g a homemade s<strong>of</strong>tware written<br />
for this purpose.<br />
The position<strong>in</strong>g is achieved by means <strong>of</strong><br />
a CCD camera embedded <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> system<br />
and controlled via a WiFi connection. The<br />
acquisition system <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> data, which is<br />
made through a homemade MCA, be<strong>in</strong>g<br />
also managed via <strong>the</strong> s<strong>of</strong>tware mentioned<br />
above, goes through an E<strong>the</strong>rnet<br />
connection. We will present here <strong>the</strong> new<br />
developments <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> system as well as an<br />
example <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong> situ 2D elemental mapp<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
