Company development 1993 The beginnings of ELKO EP, s.r.o. reach back to the year when Jiří Konečný entered the market with his first product – a switching block for electrical heating. He soon discovers an attractive opportunity in manufacturing modular devices, and enters the market a year later with the first multifunction timer relay MFR. In time, after creating from a „family workshop“ a company with quality development background and modern manufacturing technology on a comparable level with developed nations. 1996 Production in this year included SMD technology, meaning that around 80 % of the components are not fitted and soldered manually, but on automated machines and soldering lines. Constant development in the given area compelled the company to take this step, as did demands for quality, dimensions, service life and capacity of manufactures. The manufacturing areas are completely furnished in antistatic design, from floors to clothing. Output control is performed in two phases, bound to long-term testing of selected products, because cer- tain hidden faults may not appear immediately. Another important investment was manufacture of our own plastic injection molds, which form the casings for our products. 1997 In this year, Jiří Konečný forms the company ELKO EP, s.r.o., and thanks to its own production and development of modular devices, it becomes the dominant domestic manufacturer. This dynamic company development is founded upon its own products, whose utility features, quality of course price have found their place on the market. 1999 Golden Product – one of ELKO EP’s first awards At the trade fair Elektrotechnika 99, the super-multifunction SMR relay won the “Golden Product” award (in the field of automation). 2000 New headquarters An important milestone in the development of the company was building its own headquarters, concentrating production, development and administration into a single complex. In the modern three-story building with over 900m2 in floor space, 6
manufacturing areas fill the ground floor, with development and administrative areas upstairs. When designing these new areas, we mainly focused on logistics and handling, as well as quality conditions for our employees to work in. 2001 ISO 9001 – customer satisfaction guarantee This year, our company earned certification in a quality management system according to ISO 9001:2001 standards including CQS, and international participation in the IQ-NET network. This is how we guarantee our customers constant quality of our products long into the future. Our company received honorable mention in the annual AMPER 2001 exhibition for the product SHT digital time switch clock. 2002 Opening the first subsidiary – ELKO EP Slovakia. At this time, foreign export begins to make up over half of our revenue. 2003 Celebrating our 10th birthday For the 10th anniversary of the company ELKO EP, we prepared surprises for our customers in the form of anniversary novelties and several new testimonies of the success we’ve achieved. 7 ISO 14001 – Environmental protection is a standard playing a vital role in both development and manufacture. We are pleased to have gained for our company the IQ NET ISO 14001 certificate for the environmental management system. We earned the silver certificate for integrated management system in compliance with QMS and EMS requirements. The company received honorable mention at the AMPER 2003 trade fair for the product Digital monitoring relay for complete control of 3-phase networks HDUI-3. 2004 Technology Entrepreneur of the Year JAs the sole company owner, Jiří Konečný competed for the award twice in a row. He was once a finalist in the competition Entrepreneur of the Year 2004, and the second time as Entrepreneur of the Year 2004. 2005 ELKO EP opens new manufacturing and administrative areas in Holešov-Všetuly.
