◊ Summer 1990 Lecturer <strong>of</strong> a graduate level course in Chemical Engineering. Developed a<br />
completely new course: “Introduction to Networks and Percolation Theory.” (CHEN 689).<br />
◊ Modeling and computer simulation <strong>of</strong> flow <strong>of</strong> non-Newtonian fluids through pipe<br />
networks.<br />
◊ Co-Principal investigator, with P. T. Eubank, in project sponsored by Dow Chemical:<br />
“Phase Equilibria and Density Measurements for Propylene Mixtures” (RF #6034).<br />
(5/23/88 - 5/23/89).<br />
◊ Co-advisor in NSF Project RF#5931. VLE (vapor-liquid-equilibrium) simulation, algorithm<br />
development and optimization studies.<br />
◊ Mathematical modeling for the EDM (Electro-Discharge-Machining) process. Included<br />
modeling <strong>of</strong> erosion in cathode and anode, plasma dynamics and dielectric selection.<br />
◊ Preparation <strong>of</strong> proposal: “Model Development <strong>of</strong> Spark Erosion Processes.” AGIE, a<br />
leading manufacturer <strong>of</strong> EDM equipment in Europe, awarded $70K to pursue this<br />
research (May 1990).<br />
◊ Co-principal investigator with P. T. Eubank and A. M. Gadalla in Engineering Research<br />
Equipment Grant: “Precision EDM Die-Sinker for Research.” (Awarded by National<br />
Science Foundation (NSF), Grant MSS-9007472.<br />
