Class Time Length: 90 minutes<br />

Overview: Students have completed <strong>the</strong>ir reading <strong>of</strong> <strong>Night</strong> and are preparing for <strong>the</strong>ir unit test.<br />

They are also getting ready for <strong>the</strong>ir presentations and Bill <strong>of</strong> Rights projects. This lesson<br />

will prepare students for taking <strong>the</strong>ir test and allow for time for students to work with <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

groups to prepare for presentations in <strong>the</strong> next class.<br />

Objectives: (APS 2, 4)<br />

Students will be able to:<br />

� Recall information from <strong>Night</strong>. (E1-1.4)<br />

� Plan research presentations. (E1-6.8)<br />

English I Course Standards Addressed: (APS 2, 4, 7)<br />

E1-1.4 Analyze <strong>the</strong> relationship among character, plot, and <strong>the</strong>me in a given literary text.<br />

E1-6.8 Design and carry out research projects by selecting a topic, constructing inquiry<br />

questions, accessing resources, and organizing information.<br />

Prerequisites & Pre-assessments: (APS 3)<br />

Students have completed <strong>the</strong>ir reading <strong>of</strong> <strong>Night</strong> and have <strong>the</strong> information needed to complete <strong>the</strong><br />

study guide. They also have completed <strong>the</strong> research for <strong>the</strong>ir final projects and have <strong>the</strong><br />

information needed to complete <strong>the</strong>ir presentations.<br />

Materials & Preparations: (APS 6) The following materials will assist students in completing<br />

<strong>the</strong> days objective:<br />

� <strong>Night</strong> study guides<br />

� Video<br />

Procedures: (APS 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)<br />

� Attendance and housekeeping (5 minutes)<br />

� Work on vocabulary (15-20 minutes)<br />

� Finish reading <strong>Night</strong> (20-30 minutes)<br />

� Complete <strong>Night</strong> study guide (35 minutes)<br />

� View <strong>Elie</strong> Wiesel video (5 minutes)<br />

� Group work for final projects (remainder <strong>of</strong> class)<br />
