ITAJAí ExpANDS OpERATIONS STRATEGIES IN SANTA CATARINA

Betting on significantly increasing the
operations in the state of Santa Catarina,
in the second semester of last year,
Hellmann Brazil established its newest
branch in the southern region, which is
in operation since August 2011.
Santa Catarina's foreign trade figures made
2011 a record year with an increase of
around 19.4% compared to 2010. EUR 9.05
billion was reached in export, surpassing the
performance of 2008, when EUR 8.3 billion
was shipped by the branches in this state.
Imports also recorded historical values, summing
up to EUR 14.8 billion, which shows an
increase of 24% compared to 2010. Besides
the excellent geographical position and the
more efficient logistics structures in the
country, studies show Itajaí Valley and the
country's northern as regions with the greatest
potential in Brazil, having a growth forecast
two times larger than the expectation
for the Rio-Sao Paulo region.
All of this confirms the rightness of the
strategy to increase business in the region
considering the investments made by large
companies in Santa Catarina - which is an
important place of focus in the national economic
scene - in the past 10 years. Among
the major recent developments, General Motors
has invested R$ 1 billion to build a new
plant in Joinville and, equally important, in
March, BMW has announced the establishment
of its car factory nearby Araquari with
planned investment of EUR 350 million.

On 2 January 2012, the new sales representative
office was opened in Antofagasta.
Antofagasta continues to be the center of
the mining cluster within Chile with more
than twenty two active mines (mainly copper,
but also nitrate, gold and silver). Due to the
extensive growth, the energy consumption
has increased substantially and is expected
to quadruple over the next years. Therefore,
Antofagasta will also become the energy generating
hub of Chile with plenty of upcoming
long-term projects in the following industries:
mining in general & energy such as geothermal
energy, wind power & water power. The
sales territory includes, but is not limited to
the following cities and surrounding areas:
Antofagasta, Arica, Calama, Copiapo, Iquique
and La Serena. Please support us in converting

1,350 km north of Santiago
and has more than 360,000
inhabitants. The city is recognized
globally as one of the main centers
of copper mining. Also other
minerals are extracted such as

projects already have been approved
for Antofagasta exceeding
US$ 18,000 million until 2020.
