Board of Directors <strong>Music</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>All</strong> Board members are links to the community and are essential volunteers. Board member responsibilities include shaping and reviewing the mission, purpose, policies and programs; selecting, supporting and evaluating the Chief Executive Officer; providing proper financial oversight and ensuring legal and ethical integrity and accountability. The board participates in organizational planning and management, and determines, monitors and strengthens <strong>Music</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>All</strong> programs and services. Matthew B. Carter Chairman Matthew B. Carter is Vice President of Strategic Development <strong>for</strong> the Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Association and Tourism Tomorrow, Inc. Matt has a degree in Finance from Ball State University and has received several certificates of continuing education from professional organizations. He was a member of the founding committee of the Indy Jazz Fest and served on the Capital and Operating Fund Campaign Committee of the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. He and his wife Leslie have quadruplet daughters. His wife currently teaches music and movement to preschool children. Kathryn A. Minx Vice-Chairman, Treasurer Kathryn A. Minx is COO <strong>for</strong> BSA Lifestructures, Inc., the largest healthcare, engineering and design firm in Indiana. Kathy also serves on the Board of Directors <strong>for</strong> Fairbanks Hospital, the Damien Center, the Children’s Bureau and CICOA (Central Indiana Council on Aging). Kathy earned her bachelor’s degree from Miami University of Ox<strong>for</strong>d, Ohio and obtained her MBA from Indiana University. Kathy is also a graduate of Leadership Albuquerque and the Stanley K. Lacy Leadership Series. Kathy was awarded recognition as a member of the “40 Under Forty” top leaders in Cincinnati, Ohio. L. Scott McCormick President & CEO Scott McCormick is President and CEO of <strong>Music</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>All</strong>, Inc. Mr. McCormick attended Northern Illinois University and Elmhurst College in Illinois. He has previously served on the coordinating committee of the Illinois Coalition <strong>for</strong> <strong>Music</strong> Education and the Northshore Concert Band Advisory Council, as well as the President’s Council of the International Festival and Events Association. His professional affiliations include American Bandmasters Association, <strong>Music</strong> Educators National Conference, Percussive Arts Society, International Association of Jazz Educators and Kappa Kappa Psi. Gayl Doster Gayl W. Doster is the retired President and Chief Operating Officer of Brooks Drug, Inc. Mr. Doster is a graduate of the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. While at Indiana University, he was a member of the Marching Hundred and numerous other musical organizations. He is presently Vice President and Treasurer of the Fine Arts Society of Indianapolis. Mr. Doster has 16 • <strong>Music</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>All</strong> National Festival Official <strong>Program</strong> been inducted into the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ Business and Industry Hall of Fame. Gayl and his wife have two children and four grandchildren. Ronald C. McCurdy Dr. Ronald C. McCurdy is chair of the jazz department and professor of music in the Thornton School of <strong>Music</strong> at the University of Southern Cali<strong>for</strong>nia (USC). He received his undergraduate degree from Florida A&M University and his Masters and Ph.D. from the University of Kansas. Dr. McCurdy is a consultant to the GRAMMY Foundation educational programs and served as Director of the Walt Disney <strong>All</strong>-American Summer College Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Singers and is a Yamaha Per<strong>for</strong>ming Artist. Robert B. Morrison Executive Vice President, Public Affairs Chairman Emeritus, <strong>Music</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>All</strong> Foundation Robert B. Morrison served as the CEO of the VH1 Save The <strong>Music</strong> Foundation, the national non-profit organization committed to restoring music education in America’s public schools. Mr. Morrison received the Mr. Holland’s Opus Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the <strong>Music</strong> Distributors Associations. Mr. Morrison is <strong>Music</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>All</strong>’s Executive Vice President, Public Affairs. Michael Murray Michael Murray is the Executive Director <strong>for</strong> Endowments & Foundations at UBS Global Asset Management, one of the largest asset management firms with over $750 billion in assets under management. Mr. Murray has extensive media experience and has been a guest on television networks such as CNN, CNBC, Bloomberg and others. Mr. Murray established Kestrel Consulting Group, LLC in Connecticut. Mr. Murray and his wife have three children. In his spare time, he is a passionate musician and loves baseball. Tim Ochran For over 30 years, Tim Ochran has been active throughout the country in the creative sport of “Marching <strong>Music</strong>” as an adjudicator, writer, instructor and clinician. He served as the visual caption chairman <strong>for</strong> Drum Corps International and worked with many award winning organizations in the United States as well as in Europe and Asia. He is an American Board of Radiology Certified Medical Physicist and past Vice President of Radiation Services <strong>for</strong> US Oncology. He is a father of three whose lives are enriched daily by having the opportunity to be involved in music and the arts. Bruce Paynter Bruce Paynter is Secretary/Treasurer of the John P. Paynter Foundation, a not-<strong>for</strong>-profit organization dedicated to furthering music’s cause in memory of Bruce’s father, the prolific bandleader, composer, conductor and arranger <strong>for</strong> Northwestern University. Mr. Paynter received his bachelor’s degree with honors and his law degree from Northwestern University, where he maintains an active presence as a member of both the Northwestern Marching Band Alumni Board of Directors and the Gridiron Network Board of Directors. Karen Sherry Karen Sherry is Senior Vice President of Industry Affairs <strong>for</strong> ASCAP and Vice President and Executive Director of The ASCAP Foundation. Sherry is a <strong>for</strong>mer recording artist and is President of the New York Chapter of the Recording Academy, currently serving NARAS as a National Trustee and member of the Executive Board. She also serves on the Board of the Kaufman Cultural Center, the <strong>Music</strong> <strong>for</strong> Youth Foundation and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Leslie Stifelman Peabody Award-winning Executive Producer, Leslie Stifelman enjoys a varied musical career as a conductor and pianist in addition to her work as a producer and educator. Ms. Stifelman is currently the <strong>Music</strong> Director <strong>for</strong> the Tony and GRAMMY award-winning Broadway hit musical, Chicago. Ms. Stifelman is the President and Creative Director of Symfunny Toons Inc., a company dedicated to the development of television programs and interactive products <strong>for</strong> children to learn about music. Her company developed the Peabody Award-winning HBO documentary television series, The <strong>Music</strong> in Me. Chuck Preston Chairman Emeritus Chuck Preston retired as Corporate Vice-President and Director, Worldwide Supply Management, Cellular Phone Sector of Motorola Inc., in 1998. Mr. Preston graduated from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, Lake Forest, IL. He is the proud father of three daughters and a son, one of whom is a high school music educator. Chuck and his wife, Annette, now live in Arizona.
