Amcham <strong>Denmark</strong> is conv<strong>in</strong>ced that <strong>Denmark</strong><br />
has the means to build on areas necessary<br />
to create a world class healthcare system.<br />
But there is a long way to go. The most<br />
strik<strong>in</strong>g evidence is that <strong>Denmark</strong> has one <strong>of</strong><br />
the lowest life expectancies among the OECD<br />
countries – 23rd position with 78.4 years,<br />
well beh<strong>in</strong>d neighbor<strong>in</strong>g Sweden, F<strong>in</strong>land,<br />
Norway and Germany. Though boast<strong>in</strong>g one<br />
<strong>of</strong> the highest life expectancies <strong>in</strong> 1960, <strong>Denmark</strong><br />
has fallen short <strong>of</strong> reap<strong>in</strong>g the benefits<br />
that <strong>in</strong>novation has contributed to <strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>g<br />
life expectancy <strong>in</strong> other EU countries.<br />
AmCham br<strong>in</strong>gs together <strong>in</strong>ternational experience<br />
and perspective from both domestic<br />
and foreign healthcare companies and is<br />
strongly committed to mak<strong>in</strong>g the Danish<br />
healthcare system a world class provider <strong>of</strong><br />
treatments that ensure quality <strong>of</strong> care. What<br />
is needed is a reason for them to <strong>in</strong>vest and<br />
grow jobs.<br />
AmCham believes that improv<strong>in</strong>g the quality<br />
<strong>of</strong> healthcare and mak<strong>in</strong>g <strong>Denmark</strong> an attractive<br />
environment for healthcare companies<br />
to <strong>in</strong>vest <strong>in</strong> are fundamentally l<strong>in</strong>ked.<br />
“<strong>Denmark</strong> must do more to realize the<br />
benefits <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>novative practices.”<br />
