Bill Brown, a certified Master Naturalist<br />

with the Audubon Society of Northern<br />

Virginia (ASNV) and a frequent leader<br />

of bird walks in Northern Virginia, will<br />

conduct a two-part birding course for<br />

beginners. Session one is a two-hour<br />

class at the Great Falls Library, 7-9pm<br />

on <strong>April</strong> 7. Part two is a field trip at<br />

Riverbend Park on Saturday, <strong>April</strong> 9,<br />

starting at 7:30am. Class is limited to 15<br />

participants and costs $20 (free if you<br />

join ASNV for $15). To sign up, interested<br />

persons should call Audubon Society of<br />

Green Day School, 790 Walker Road near the<br />

main crossroads at the center of the village.<br />

It’s free, and they’re inviting you to sample the<br />

creative life in Great Falls and meet 21 of the<br />

resident crafts people and painters there.<br />

a partnership with this local business and will<br />

host a series of exhibits throughout the rest of<br />

TICKET to ART, the Vienna Arts Society's 5th<br />

annual fund-raiser, is <strong>March</strong> 1 - 19, Vienna<br />

Art Center, 115 Pleasant St, NW, Vienna. The<br />

exhibition is free and open to the public and<br />

features a "Tea and See" with a performance by<br />

the Harmonia School of Music, Sunday,<br />

<strong>March</strong> 6, 1-3 pm. The exhibition concludes with<br />

a raffle of original artworks Saturday, <strong>March</strong> 19,<br />

4:30-6:30pm. Wine and light refreshments will<br />

be served; and entertainment includes artists<br />

painting to the music of the Higher Ground<br />

Trio. Tickets for the raffle are $125, and each<br />

ticket holder will be able to select a work of<br />

"Red and Gold"<br />

You are invited to enter "Portals of Light and<br />

Color," at the ValeArts Spring Art Show. The<br />

artists of ValeArts, a cooperative northern<br />

Virginia art group, will exhibit more than 150<br />

new original works in the three day show. Light<br />

and color will be explored with a multitude<br />

of techniques by the local artists. Acrylic, oil,<br />

watercolor, and collage will all be displayed in<br />

a charming 1888 schoolhouse venue. ValeArts<br />

welcomes Carolyn Koslow, who will reveal her<br />

latest illuminating photographs of colored glass<br />

in exciting geometric design. A reception will<br />

be held <strong>April</strong> 29 from 7pm-9pm. The exhibit<br />

is family friendly and young artists will be<br />

encouraged to explore their creativity.<br />
