Foreword
Few would theoretically deny the unique nature of each
member of the human race. In virtually every aspect of
our being, people demonstrate combinations of characteristics,
physical, emotional, and behavioral, which
set us apart from everyone else on the planet, including
those who preceded us here. Acknowledging the unique
quality of each human life has not, unfortunately, always
supported a further recognition that our “uniqueness”
deserves the dignity, respect, and equality that should be
afforded every individual. Perhaps our historical inability
to measure that quality of “uniqueness” has contributed
to the lapses between the theoretical acceptance of our
unique nature and the social errors that ignore our individuality.
