FFA DEPARTMENT Tessa Martin & Mike Hoffman<br />

On August 6 th, 7 th , and 8 th the Wynford FFA went on their annual officer retreat. This<br />

year they stayed in a lodge at Hocking Hills. Some activities they did included going to<br />

Magic Mountain and Old Man’s Cave. The purpose of officer retreat is to plan the<br />

events for the upcoming school year. They also appointed committees, established officer<br />

responsibilities, and set officer goals. The goals that the Wynford FFA officers<br />

have established for the year are: to fix the sign by the royal woods, to re-establish the<br />

BBQ signs, to host a leadership night, to adopt a highway, and to rebuild the FFA storage<br />

shed. The next FFA event is the annual Wynford FFA/ Band BBQ. The BBQ is Saturday,<br />

September 29 th .<br />

On September 13th, some Wynford FFA members went to the<br />

forestry contest at Camp Michael. Criteria for the contest: tree<br />

identification; a chainsaw safety test; measurement of a tree to<br />

determine how much wood you would get from it; and a written<br />

test over the gernal forestry. Out of the Wynford FFA Chapter,<br />

Aryn Copeland placed first, Madelyn Assenheimer placed second,<br />

and Callie Ruffner placed third.<br />

On Saturday, October 13 th Tulsa Fearing, Zach Hurst, Kayle Ort, and Tessa Starner all<br />

parcipated in the state soils contest located at Malabar Farms in Richland County.<br />

The team placed 19 th out of 50 urban teams and Tulsa placed 12th individually. Congrats<br />

and good luck next year.<br />

The Wynford FFA is selling fruit through Nov. 16 with delivery date of Dec. 5.<br />

Our items that we offer are: Citrus Fruit, Apples, Peanuts, Brinkman's canned meat, BBQ sauce, and our holiday<br />

fruit basket. If you would like to order or have any questions contact a Wynford FFA member or call the<br />

school and ext. 226 or ext. 261.<br />
