“Do you think your organization
would like to make
a donation to help build a
school in Vietnam?” I could
never have imagined the
impact this question from Bud
Bruton, member of the Board
of Directors for VVRP (Vietnam
Veterans Restoration Project)
would have for me or for Alpha
Delta Kappa.
A proposal was submitted,
unanimously approved and
Project S.A.V.E (Sisters Aiding
Vietnamese Education) was of-
The Vision
of WE
ficial. We turned to our membership
to raise $50,000 and
fully fund the five-room school
in Ta Rinh, located in the Nam
Dong District, Thua Thien-Hue
Province of Vietnam. From
the first announcement, flyer,
S/P/N conventions, DVD and
Regional Conference presentations,
the support of this
project has been overwhelming.
The excitement Project
S.A.V.E has generated in our
members hasn’t happened in
many years!
So now, it is time to share
with you, my sisters, the wonderful
experience of traveling
to Vietnam for the dedica-
tion of the Alpha Delta Kappa
School on September 3, 2010.
Where to begin?
In the words of Dr. Seuss’s
“Oh the places you’ll go” came
to mind when our itinerary arrived.
I’m sure when we plan
our travel to destinations we
have never been before we visualize
what we can expect to
see. My expectations certainly
didn’t anticipate how different
this trip would be.
Landing in Hanoi . . . So,
this is the famous city that so
many of us have heard about.
Hanoi, originally named Thang
Long, is nearly a thousand
years old, but for many it has Ø
