A <strong>Rowville</strong> rail line concept<br />

Mulgrave<br />

In our preliminary concept design, Mulgrave station is the only one that would be above<br />

ground. This would be a substantial structure and access/egress would need careful<br />

planning. Figure 21 shows a possible cross section and Figure 22 illustrates what the station<br />

could look like in its surroundings.<br />

Feedback on the Draft <strong>Stage</strong> 1 <strong>Report</strong> included suggestions that either:<br />

the rail line and station should be underground through Mulgrave to reduce its impact on<br />

the surroundings (this is likely to add considerable cost to the project, so may not be<br />

feasible); or<br />

the Mulgrave station concept should be reviewed to move it closer to or to straddle<br />

Springvale Road, to improve passenger accessibility from either side.<br />

These suggestions should be considered in <strong>Stage</strong> 2 of the study.<br />
