Conclusion<br />
This implementation plan had to be prepared before a choice of <strong>VLT</strong> site was<br />
made and before the design of the 8 meter telescopes and their configuration<br />
was frozen. Next will be the major task of finally defining the <strong>VLT</strong>I layout once<br />
the site is chosen, to develop the <strong>VLT</strong> site taking the <strong>VLT</strong> <strong>Interferometer</strong> into<br />
account, and to do the engineering design and construction of the <strong>VLT</strong>I itself.<br />
Doing all this in such a way that a well functioning interferometric facility<br />
results is a truly gigantic task which will require the major efforts of many and<br />
the full dedication of all of those in the <strong>ESO</strong> interferometric community.<br />
